Newsletter July 2010
Updated: 2nd August 2010

Information not be missed!

It has been 3 months since our last newsletter and that sure has flown by.

Firstly, the project which Tracey undertook earlier in the year has now been completed, and she is back at CPW to source New Business and take over the running of the Permanent Placement desk. If you know any one who is looking for quality catering personnel on a permanent basis or indeed individuals who are looking for a permanent position, please pass on Tracey’s details which are tracey.kilford@cpwhotats.co.uk or visit our website www.cpwhotcats.co.uk where they will find all the information they need. If your lead turns into a placement you will earn yourself a £50 bonus.

Secondly, a subject we have gone over many times in the past, but some of you are still not getting it. Timesheets must be in the Bristol office by 6pm Sunday and Swindon by 7am Monday, we are constantly on the phones trying to obtain extra work for you all. We do not have the time to chase outstanding timesheets. It is your responsibility to ensure we have them: no timesheet no pay. We keep going over this, but for some reason the message is not getting through to all of you!! Joy now only works in accounts 3 days per week, which obviously reduces the time she has to turn your timesheets into pay. If she holds the payroll for you, this could result in no-one getting paid on a Friday… and I know quite a few temps who will not be happy should this happen.

It has come to my attention that some staff are turning up for work in their uniforms. As you are all aware, from a health and safety standpoint this is totally unacceptable, and should the client wish to they are quite within their rights to turn you away. Please ensure you take your uniform with you and change once you are on site, remembering to change back once your shift is finished. Obviously all clients have different requirements, so common sense is really all that is needed.

Note for Chefs!!!!
Please remember if you are a chef it is commonly your responsibility to complete all of the necessary admin duties: i.e. the signing off of temperature/probe checks, cleaning schedules etc. This is being missed by some of you so please ensure these are completed on every booking and if you are unsure to ask the client.

Are you CRB registered? If not ask one of the girls in the office to arrange this for you. Many of our clients now require this and it does open more doors in terms of where you can work. It costs £45 and Joy can spread the cost over 4 weeks if you require.

As you know we are available to take your calls 24hours a day, 365 days a year, but would ask that you please use the out of hours service for emergencies ONLY. Things like “i cannot make a shift a week next Thursday” is not an emergency and you can tell us that during normal office hours. Also, if we do not get to the phone before the voicemail kicks in, please leave a message and let us know who you are. The out of hours phone does not show incoming numbers so unless we can memorize every ones number (elephants we are not) we won’t necessarily know who you are. Also please ensure you are always dialing the landlines, Swindon: 01793 523120, Bristol: 01179 252555 when calling at any time.

Welcome to all new temps who have joined us since our last newsletter, and good-bye, and good luck to those who have moved on to pastures new, we wish you all well. We sometimes struggle to fill Chef bookings, do you know any good ones who are looking for work? If so give them our number and if they sign up and work for us for 13 weeks you will earn yourselves a £30 bonus.

Finally, thank you all for your hard work and commitment to CPW you are a credit to us. Times have been difficult as I am sure you are all aware, a positive thing I would like to share with you all is that things have picked up and should continue to do so. I truly believe we are the best out there and can only thank you all for staying strong in these hard times, onwards and upwards from here on in. Your next Newsletter will be coming out October 2010 if you have anything you would like to share let us know and we can include it in the next issue.

Hopefully see and speak to you all soon,

Kind Regards,

Amy and team.

Minimum wage to go up 13p an hour in October
Updated: 22nd June 2010
The minimum adult hourly wage will rise by 2% in October to £5.93 an hour.

The increase is in line with a recommendation from the Low Pay Commission.

But it is far behind the retail price index measure of inflation, which is generally used as a benchmark for wage rises.

That figure, for May, showed prices rising by 5.1%.

A new £2.50 hourly minimum wage for apprentices is also being introduced.

Younger workers between the ages of 18-20 will get a 9p increase to £4.92 an hour, while 16 and 17 year-olds will get £3.64 an hour, 7p more than previously.

CPW Hot Cats Newsletter April 2010
Updated: 11th June 2010
A big hello to you all, it has been a while since the last newsletter, we will now be producing them on a quarterly basis. This gives us a way to communicate across important information and share any news with you all, so I hope you find it an interesting read and do not just leave it in your junk mail pile!

I would like to start by commenting on what a fantastic party we had back in February, a big thank you to all of those that managed to make it, I think you will agree it was certainly a night that will not be forgotten for a long while! It was a fantastic opportunity for us all to meet, dance, drink and be merry, and there was certainly plenty of it, (some more than others!)

The last few months have certainly been a roller coaster ride for us all, we have seen Tracey move on to a new project and I would like to let you all know she misses us all very much but is certainly in touch with everything and sends her love to all. We have welcomed Daryl in as Quality Manager and his role has proven to be very informative, I will go into this a bit further down the page.

Now for the boring stuff (although very important) we have gone over this issue many times in the past, but some of you are still not adhering to the rules. Timesheets must be in the Bristol office by 6pm Sunday and Swindon by 7am Monday, we are constantly on the phones trying to obtain extra work for you all, and do not have the time to chase outstanding timesheets. It is your responsibility to ensure we have them, no timesheet no pay. We have another two Bank Holidays coming up and if you want your pay on time then Joy must have your timesheets. I think you all have the message now so I won’t mention it again!!

As stated Daryl has joined us as Quality Manager, basically his job role is to visit our units to ensure that both our Clients and temps are fulfilling their contractual obligations, i.e. does the client induct our temp to a satisfactory standard, do they go through fire procedures, does the unit offer a safe working environment, is there a signing in and out procedure? Daryl will also update the Client profile in order to give the best possible information to you guys. On the temps side he will be looking to see that you have the correct uniform needed to fulfill the job role, is that uniform clean and pressed, do you have safety shoes if needed, are you aware of all that is required of you to undertake the task? In Swindon the majority of these checks have been carried out, whilst in Bristol only a handful have been completed. Obviously this is an ongoing procedure and one that CPW find very useful for both Clients and temps alike.

On this note it is always good to receive your feedback on the units you go to, we do have Feedback on Units forms in the offices, and would ask that when you come in you pick up some of these, and let us have them once they are completed, for those of you who have difficulty getting in please let us know and we will send you some in the post.

As you know we are available to take your calls 24hours a day, 365 days a year, but would ask that you please use the out of hours service for emergencies ONLY, things like you cannot make a shift a week next Thursday is not an emergency you can tell us that during normal office hours. If we do not get to the phone before the voicemail kicks in, please leave a message and let us know who you are, the out of hours phone does not show incoming numbers so unless we can memorize every ones number (elephants we are not) we won’t necessarily know who you are.

Anna recently attended the Randstad quarterly meeting in Bristol, we received a very good rating which is down to the hard work carried out by you all, as with everything there is always room for improvement, the one gripe they did have was that occasionally temps are late on duty or in some instances fail to turn up at all! It is imperative that you let us know as soon as possible if you are going to be late or are unable to make it, they will place a strike against you if you fail to meet their criteria, they will then suspend you from all BCC units, something we do not want to see.

Whilst we are more than happy to give you directions to units, you may find it easier to map your journey out yourself, for bus journeys just log on to www.traveline.org.uk and enter your destination, it will show all buses going to your unit, along with journey times. If you are driving log onto www.multipmap.com enter your home and destination postcode for the quickest route.

If you have Internet and Facebbook access, check out the CPW page, we are always posting notifications, which may be of interest to you. Catch up with your fellow temps and of course us reprobates here in the offices.

Gill Locke, one of our longest serving temps has decided she would like to become a lady of leisure (well actually Gill is going to retire!) we will miss Gill but wish her well and hope she will think of us when she is lounging around, doing nothing except relaxing and becoming a lady who lunches. Only joking Gill, you deserve the rest.

Welcome, to all new temps who have joined us since our last newsletter, and good-bye, and good luck, to those who have moved on to pastures new, we wish you all well. On that note, bookings are coming in thick and fast and we desperately need to recruit more staff to enable us to cover these, we are looking for good catering staff, do you have any friends who are looking for work, Chefs, Catering assistants etc? If so give them our number and if they sign up and work for us for 13 weeks you will earn yourselves a £30 bonus.

Finally, thank you all for your hard work and commitment to CPW you are a credit to us. Your next Newsletter will be coming out July 2010 if you have anything you would like to share let us know and we can include it in the next issue.

Hopefully see and speak to you all soon,

Amy

CPW Hot Cats Newsletter January 2010.
Updated: 5th February 2010
Dear Hot Cats,
First and foremost we would sincerely like to apologise for the cancellation of the Christmas party due to the weather as I know a lot of you were looking forward to it, it is always a good evening and a time when we are all together having fun, we were thinking of doing a summer BBQ but have decided it is too long too wait so we have exciting news for you……….
Your Party is now booked for Friday 26th February at The Madison Inn Swindon. A Coach has been arranged for Bristol temps, (details to be confirmed at a later date) please let Amy or Anna know if you need a seat, there is no charge for this, unless you confirm a place and fail to turn up, we will then deduct £5 from your wages for each seat booked to go towards the cost. The Madison is offering us special rates if you would like to stay overnight.
Twin/Double room £25 per person must be double occupancy
Single room £35
All rates are inclusive of bed and full English breakfast, Vat and service charges.
Go on, treat yourselves, you know you want to ! If you would like to take advantage of this offer please call Joy on
01793 500953.

A big thank you for everyone who went the extra mile and managed to get to work on time or slightly late, the fact that you ventured out of your house shows huge commitment to your role and also commitment to CPW and its clients.
A big thank you to Joy (managed to get a bus although had to walk through town) and Amy who managed to get in as well, Amy walked from her house in her pink wellies, trend setter you! Anna managed to get into the office in Bristol to carry on her workload, thank you Anna. Most public transport did work in Swindon; however for our Bristol gang the buses came to a stand still causing no end of disruptions for both temps and clients a like, but again for those of you who managed to get to work a massive thank you.

Last year was a tough year all round and it is my belief that this year will see very little change so far as the recession goes, however that does not mean that we will take our foot off the accelerator, quite the opposite we will be pushing to ensure that we have work to offer you.
If your circumstances change please do make sure that you let the office know, we know who is without work and we work hard to try and source some for you, the nature of what we do is often last minute so we need you ready to receive the calls even if you cannot make the booking due to other commitments, that way we can offer the booking to another temp.
Most of you are very good at answering the phones or coming back to us as soon as you can, however I have heard temps moan that they have not had any work! All I can say is if you pick up your phone you may well work.
Please make sure that your phone is on and fully charged and most of all in hearing distances, if you do not like last minute bookings for whatever reason please call and let the office know, however the temps that do take the last minute bookings are very rarely without work and often the last minute bookings lead into long term assignments.

We have seen big changes with CPW this last year, the departure of office staff, the closure of Gloucester and the moth balling of Bristol, Bristol office is still ours and I am not intending to remain closed for eternity but, I am also not looking to reopen it in the near future, if anyone would like to come into the office in Swindon we would love to see you, if anyone needs to discuss anything and cannot get to Swindon we are happy to arrange a meeting with you in Bristol or Gloucester, please call us to arrange.

As you are all more than aware we have an introduce a friend scheme in place, this enables you to earn some extra cash so why not take advantage of it…We are currently looking for experienced staff in both Bristol and Swindon who can drive and are willing to be flexible. Please contact the office for more details of how this works.

Kind Regards
Tracey and Team

Charlie Made It!!!!!!!!!!!
Updated: 27th October 2009
I Made It!!!
The ascent on the 7th day commenced at midnight (so that the loose grit and sand on the climb would be frozen); I reached Stella Point, Africa's second highest point at just around 7am and then went on to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro on 10th October at 8.15am. I have since said this was the proudest moment and the best experience of my life, to which a very close friend said "this is only the start of your life, but what a good way to start it!"
Thankfully I was apart of a fantastic group whereby we all kept each others spirits up when we were each down mentally or due to the altitude by singing, dancing and laughing or generally just bouncing off one another; consequently the days rolled by in what feels like now as a blink of an eye. My two brilliant ladies (Jackie and Jana) I travelled with soon established the three of us as the "three musketeers" and we were each others rocks. By the time we left the whole group felt like a new family and we especially had support from fantastic guides who we all hope to keep in contact with.
The first two days threw us in at the deep end as we endured torrential rain and hail in the tropical rainforest but it wasn't enough to dampen our spirits, our breath was still taken away by phenomenal views, black & white monkeys and the beautiful trees. The group naturally split into smaller ones and Jackie, Jana and I took plenty of photos and made friends with the guides. The night times were still relatively warm but once the light faded your only source would be a headlight so it was a rush to get back in time for "wash wash" (which was only a plastic bowl with warm water which you had to make the best of in your tent) and change into your thermals and Pyjamas. It was at this stage where the wildlife and fauna was at its richest.
The following three days began our acclimatization programme; we zigzagged up and down across Shira Plato, up the cathedral and back down to Shira 2 Camp, then up to Lent Hill and back down to camp at Moir Hut then up to Lava Tower and camp at Baranco Wall’s campsite. It was on these days I began to see the stars at night which felt like if stretched hard enough I could touch! Everyone at least got headaches and losses of appetite amongst some other more serious reactions but on the whole the group seemed strong and we were all so grateful to be above the clouds (above 3000m) not only for the beautiful views but for not getting wet!
The 6th day was a hard one whereby we had Baranco wall to climb which is steep and busy at the same time but numerous renditions of Michael Jackson songs and an hour and a half later all but 2 had made it to the top of the wall and it was this time we first felt close to the summit as it posed behind us in our photos- oh how we was to find out this was an optical illusion! We walked on to Karanga Valley Camp for a relaxing afternoon ready for the following night’s midnight rise so whilst some of the group opted for extra sleep others went to the mess tent in the warm sun for games of cards and later on after the dinner the thunderstorms over Tanzania lit up our sky in a spectacular display of oranges and yellows. It will be a moment which will stay with me forever!
We woke up the next morning to start the slow ascent out of our camp up to Barafu Base camp which was very busy and loud but the main purpose of being here was to get out heads down and rest, but it was hard as I think my adrenaline was starting to kick in and it was a very restless snooze. Then that night we woke up at 11.30pm for porridge (which I didn’t eat enough of and found at 4.30am I was walking on a grumbling tummy) and we plodded on with our heads down looking at the ground in a line one by one. It wasn’t the coldest of nights that the guides have had up there but as a consequence the ground didn’t completely freeze like they like it to which made it harder to walk on as you’re walking on steep uphill sand. Nonetheless, we still had 2 layers on our hands, insulated jackets, fleeces, layers on long johns and the water in my drinking pipe froze. As it neared 6am and we could see Stella point the African sky began to show its colours and between this and sunrise it showed bold purple, red, orange and yellow in something which looked like a masterpiece water colour painting. I sipped on what was now a cold hot chocolate whilst sat on a rock and took it all in before the final push to Stella point. I successfully made it in the first group and the adrenaline buzz is what I walked on for the following hour and a bit to Uhuru Point (the summit) which means freedom. We all had plenty of photos, hugs and tears before we had to quickly turn around and walk down to lower altitude. It was here that 5 members of the group needed assistance to be lead down from the seriousness of their sickness and unfortunately where two members of the group couldn’t reach, instead they managed to get to 5000m which was still a fantastic achievement.
We got back to Barafu at Midday for an hours sleep before lunch and packing up to walk a further 3-4 hours to Millennium Camp which was steep descent and hard going on the knees. The camp was lovely and it was our victory day to which we all slept very well.
In the morning on the 9th day, our final day, we woke up to the beautiful noise of the porters and guides singing as you could tell they were all looking forward to going back and seeing their children and family. After breakfast they all performed to us the “Kilimanjaro song” with their stunning voices. It rounded off a brilliant trip and it was a lovely treat. We walked down through the clouds and back into the rainforest again on another steep day of 5-6 hours walking. We had our lunch at the gate and said our goodbyes to the guides before we were set on our minibus back to Arusha Town. It was sad to end such a beautiful and wonderful journey, I’d made some life long friends and months of preparation had been finally put into practice. Meanwhile I’ve managed to raise money for a cause which helps the people I admire and have the utmost respect for, and that had been the most overwhelming factor of the whole excursion.
I want to thank everybody who’s supported me so far, especially those who donated prior to me leaving and showing they had real faith in me. Together we can all make a difference for our boys and girls: even just giving back a little in return for the amount they all give to us.

Many thanks once again,
Charlie Martin.

September News Letter
Updated: 14th October 2009

Newsletter September 09
Dear Fellow Hot Cats,

Not long now until Christmas, 12 weeks as of the 5th October, let the count down begin, work is picking up but you do need to respond to any missed calls you may have from us, in order to obtain this extra work. Please make sure that you have your phone on when not in work.

Contract Amendment for all CPW temps.
Holiday Pay, we are now into the new holiday pay year, you will be getting a letter shortly if you have not already received one to let you know how it will work for you, if you have any concerns please call Tracey on 01793 523120, this letter is important as it is constitutes an amendment to your contract Please read it.

Permanent Vacancies
We are starting to secure permanent vacancies, so if you are looking for permanent work please call the office to see what we have available, please remember that we will need your current CV in order for us to pass it onto our clients, ideally this should be sent via email to CPW.

CRB and Pova.
Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checking is fast becoming the norm for all employers, and once completed enables us to offer your services to a wider clientele. You will need this clearance to work in areas where there are vulnerable adults such as the old or the very young, a lot of our clients are now demanding that we only supply staff that have CRB clearance, also more and more clients are looking for staff that have been POVA (Protection of Vulnerable Adults) trained. Both of these are available to you through CPW, the cost for CRB is £45.00, once you have the CRB clearance we are happy to offer you the POVA courses free of charge, by attaining both of these, you will be in a position to undertake more assignments, and as we all know more bookings = more pay!!
If you would like more information please call and speak to your consultant.

Public transport users:
CPW advise you to purchase an A-Z of your area of work, and to purchase a bus timetable to keep yourself up to date with any changes. Please remember that although we offer directions to units it is your responsibility to get yourself to and from work and therefore you need to be au fait with the areas you are working.
Car Driver: If you have a Sat Nav, fantastic, if not it would be a good idea to put it on your Christmas list and send it to Father Christmas, they are really good and will save you lots of time, if you are good with maps great but for those of you like myself a Sat Nav is a great option.

Things are picking up and we need your help!

Newsletter January 09
Updated: 29th January 2009
Dear Fellow Hot Cats,

Welcome to January’s newsletters!
Thank you to everyone that made the effort to come to our Christmas Party which was held this month, it was a great to see so many people turn up and really enjoy themselves; I am already looking forward to the 2009 Christmas party!

The newsletter will now cover all 3 sites as opposed to each office having its own, included will be Temp of the month, Soap Box of the Month, Congratulations, and Farewells to our fellow Hot Cats.

Temp of the Month
Swindon Congratulates: Gladys Amponsem, Gladys has been given this award due to the number of clients who have requested her by name! Way to go Gladys, the feedback from all clients has been outstanding, which just goes to show that if you go that extra mile it is noticed, and when the client has a need you will be the one that is called upon! Well done Gladys and Thank you.

Bristol Congratulates: Lynn Hunt, Lynn has been awarded Temp of the Month for going the extra mile and miles by the sound of things! Lynn has been on an ongoing booking since before Christmas, and according to our client she has done a wonderful job.
Lynn goes out of her way to pick up extra staff and drop them back, she is a hero who never moans and is always patient! Well Done Lynn And Thank you.

Gloucester Congratulates: Cheryl Horton: Cheryl has proven herself to be very hard working, flexible and supportive towards CPW and her fellow Hot Cats, Cheryl is always requested back by clients and the feedback gained on her is impeccable, last month she worked on a function with a number of our staff and took control, the manager’s comment was that Cheryl was a great support and helped tremendously with the overall function, Cheryl also puts herself out by coming to the office and collecting other members of staff who are without transport, Well done Cheryl and Thank You.

Word to the wise: The above people have all gone out of there way to help other people in a big way, they deserve the recognition that they have received, there are lots of you that do lots of special things for CPW and colleagues as well but this month the above shone more brightly than the rest of you stars!
Being a temp at CPW you have to be good, we don’t just take anyone on, so well done to you all.
Clients will ask for you by name if you are going the extra mile! With the downturn in the economy and little work coming through make sure you are not left without work show the clients that you are L’Oreal and go on impressing them! You’re worth it

Please note: If you do not have a staff handbook, please ask for one from your branch office, just to ensure you have the knowledge and understanding of what is expected from you as a valued worker.
Liam will also be able to assess any training needs that you may have or would like for the future.
After Liam’s visit, he will write a report and produce a graph, you will be invited to the office to receive your own personal copies of these, giving you the opportunity to discuss any needs you may have.

Soap Box of the Month
Lateness: this can happen due to matters beyond our control, however it is your responsibility to let your consultant know, so that they can in turn call our client and let them know. It is common courtesy for us to inform our clients and path the way for you, I do not want to hear I had no credit on my phone, call form a phone box and we will call you back if needs be.
Uniform: In your staff hand book it is written that your uniform must be clean and presentable, when you were inducted your inductor would have gone over this with you, if your shirt or blouse is supposed to be white, please do not turn up in one that is more grey than white, these things are noticed by the clients, if you want the work you have to be the very best ambassador please don’t let your uniform let you down!
This is a gentle reminder to those who have slipped up a couple of times, I would like to say the majority of you get it right every time and that is also noticed, to everyone that gets it right well done, to those of you that don’t kick your own bums be the one that is called back into the unit because you are the best!
There you go Soap Box of the month for January.

A change to the way we pay travel.
Travel has always been paid to staff that travel out of town, this unfortunately will not always be the case, most clients are looking to cut cost in different areas and I am afraid to say that travel is an area that will come under close scrutiny, travel will now be paid for a any miles over 40 i.e. if the booking is 21 miles from the office, you will be paid for 2 miles, at a rate disclosed to you by your consultant, the upside to this is that you will no longer pay tax or n.i. on these amounts, your consultant will explain this to you at the time of the booking but if you would like more information then please ask.

Has to be said
The guys and dolls in the office are working really hard to bring in more work, but we have been affected in the same way as every other industry, our clients are being told by their superiors to make cut backs and unfortunately staffing levels come under fire, therefore we may not be needed to the levels previously seen, please be assured we are doing every thing we can to ensure you are in work.
Make sure if you are getting the work that the client remembers you for being a great temp that way you will be requested again when they have a need.

That’s it for this month, which leaves me to say one final time thank you for your continuing support and loyalty to CPW it is always appreciated

Kind regards

Happy New Year - Swindon News Jan 2009
Updated: 29th January 2009
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well here we are at the start of 2009; I hope you have all had a fantastic Christmas and a superb new year’s celebration. No doubt it is a bit fuzzy for some! You certainly all deserve to let your hair down after all the hard work you have put in over the past year. So all back to work now and back to reality. Let’s hope we have a busy year ahead of us.

An exciting thing to kick the New Year off with is of course Temps Christmas Party on Saturday 10th Jan at Wroughton Working Mens Club from 7pm onwards. I hope to see as many of you as possible there. Please do not forget to book your places on the coach if you need transport there and back as places are limited and filling up quickly, speak to Claire about reserving your space now!

A few little changes going on in the offices, as some of you may already be aware, Bev has now finished with us on her temporary contract as our Administrator, so a big thanks to all the hard work she put in, we wish you all the best in the future.
A big welcome to Liam who has now come from Bristol to Swindon to continue his training here with us. A lot of you will be familiar with Liam as he has worked for CPW before but those of you who are not please make the effort to come in and introduce yourselves. Liam will be working alongside myself so will be training to deal with bookings and the day to day running of the business, ready for when he moves down to Gloucester.
Claire is back at the front desk now so taken back on board all of the admin and reception work, so any of you that need to change personal details etc please inform Claire. This does however mean Claire is now responsible again for PAYSLIPS and I am sure we all know how upset Claire gets if you don’t come and collect them as she does not like her drawers overflowing, so please make the effort to come in and get them every Friday as it is your responsibility to pick these up.

A polite reminder to you all, if any of you move house, get married, get a new phone, open a new bank account etc please please please make sure you remember to come in the office and tell us so we can give you the relevant forms to complete. It is vital you do this as if we do not have your correct details, you may miss out on work or important information we send out or even more important you may not get paid if you do not inform us of these changes!

Uniforms
Those of you who do not have safety shoes that are working in kitchens, please all be aware that you should be wearing safety shoes, this is standard practice and is a requirement for the safety of yourself and those you are working with. If any of you do not have any, we can order them in for you and the money can be deducted from your wages, or please purchase some yourselves. I know the majority of you are wearing them but there are a few of you who have slipped through the net so this must be tightened up on. Also can you all ensure you are following the Uniform standards we have set in place. This is all explained to you in your inductions; refer to your staff handbooks to refresh your memories.

As you are all probably aware January could be a quiet month so we will all be working our utmost to get in what we can. Here in the office we will be focusing on “Networking” this is a vital part of getting in new business to ensure we keep you all busy. There is no reason why you yourselves cannot get involved in this, remember the incentive we have for you, “Introduce a Client” If you recommend a company to use our services and they place a booking with us you will receive a £50 bonus in your wages.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome any new faces that have come on board over the past month; I hope you all feel part of the team.
Also good luck and best wishes to those of you that have left and gone onto new ventures. Congratulations to Daryl for going over perm with one of our clients.

Finally I will finish off by thanking you all for your hard work throughout 2008 and bring on a busy and happy 2009.
See you all at the party; remember this is for you to thank you for all your hard work and commitment to CPW Hot Cats.

Amy, Claire, Liam and Joy

A word of thanks.
Updated: 7th January 2009
Dear All,
I hope you have all had a Good Christmas and I wish you a Great New Year.
I would to take this opportunity to thank you all, new, old and revisited temps for all of your continued support throughout 2008 and for being great Ambassadors for CPW Hot Cats and very much hope this continues throughout 2009.

We regularly seek feedback from our Clients and temps and the feedback is of a very high standard suggesting that we get it right 98% of the time, your feedback is always a valuable source for CPW to understand where you feel we can improve on the services we provide to you, it is important to me that you feel you are valued and listened to by CPW’s office staff, if you would like to write to me with your ideas on improving our services please do so and send your letter back to the office that you work from addressing it to Tracey Martin Private and Confidential, the guys and dolls in the office will pass your letter on to me.

Gloucester Office is now a year old and doing very well, I worked there from April until October and still oversee everything that is going on, I have met some great people in Gloucester and will continue to do so, currently Karl Joyce and Maria Thorn are looking after the Gloucester Branch. Well done Karl and Maria.

Swindon Office is where it began: CPW Contract Services is where CPW Hot Cats originates from, CPW Contract Services were an electrical agency, the directors: Richard Ingham, Rowland Loader and Colin White gave me the opportunity to open a Catering division in their already established business in December 1998, its first year was a great success and in December 1999 CPW was transferred to me, and then became CPW Hot Cats Ltd. Hot Cats for anyone that does not know, stands for Hotel and Catering and CPW quite simply stands for Colin Philip White, all three directors are great people and I thank them all for the opportunity they gave me, and am happy to announce we are now going into what will hopefully be our 10th successful year.
Amy Donnelly, Liam Martin and Claire Underdown are all working hard to keep you busy, well done to all of them, also not forgetting Joy Harvey who works very hard in accounts to make sure that you are all paid on time, Joy ensures the smooth running of accounts.
Joy is the longest serving member of staff (except of course me) and is 60 on the 7th January! “Happy Birthday Joy”, don’t forget her card and bottle of Vodka.

Last but not least CPW Bristol was opened in October 2002 and has also faired very well. Lisa Cortez, Adrian Gregory and Anna Heathorn are all working hard to ensure you are all kept busy. Well done Lisa, Adrian and Anna.

Long may all three offices continue, a big thank you to all the office staff that work so hard all year round to ensure CPW’s success.

What’s New for you in 2009?
April 2009 sees the government raise the holiday entitlement to 28 days per year.
A central newsletter will be edited for all three offices.
There will be a temp of the month award, one from each office.
Graphs will be displayed in each office of the feedback gained from clients and temps.
You will have the opportunity to meet and discuss your thoughts about CPW and ways that you feel we can improve our service levels.
I will be working from each office one day a week and look forward to meeting you all.

Your Christmas Party is on the 10th January and I look forward to seeing you as many of you there that can make it.

Have a fantastic New Year

Kind regards

Tracey Martin
Managing Director.

Happy New Year - Bristol News Jan 2009
Updated: 23rd December 2008
Hello to everyone in our first newsletter of 2009!!!!!!!

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year, in fact I bet as you are reading this a lot of you are only just getting over your New Year hangovers!!!! Thank you to everyone for your hard work over the Christmas period it as always is appreciated. I can’t believe we are already in 2009, people say years pass you by quicker as you get older, I am starting to think they are right!!!

As we are now in the New Year our temps Christmas party is fast approaching, remember as usual we have a 45 seater coach for the Bristol gang to get to and fro’, we will be partying in Swindon at the Wroughton Working Men’s club as we did last year, the coach will be leaving the Bristol office at 6.15pm sharp, so if you want to go and need transport let us know and we will book you a space on the coach, all you need is a few spends for drinks when you get there. The party is extra special this year, as CPW will be celebrating its 10th Year in business, this is a fantastic achievement to everyone so a big knees up is definitely in order.

A couple of gentle nudges for you all, CPW prides itself on the standards that have been instilled within the company, we are a quality company with the best temps around!
To ensure we stay at the top of our game we must all work to the same standards it is what sets us apart from the rest and ensures your continued work and our reputation!

I have had a few niggles with regards to uniforms that are being worn to work, the uniform policy is clear as day
Black Trousers/skirt, White collared shirt, black fully enclosed hard leather shoes, and if you are wearing a skirt you should also be wearing black tights. This uniform policy is not a request it is a MUST, everyone is informed of the uniform required to work for CPW and if you are catering professionals as I KNOW you all are you will already have this in your wardrobe, if you are one of our team of fantastic chefs, again you will have our CPW chef whites which must be kept in pristine condition if you do not use our laundry service, some of you chefs have been with us forever and a day and may require a change of whites as they are looking tired and old, if that is the case let me know, I will ensure you have a new set immediately. I hope enough has been said on this matter and there will be no more issues.

The other niggle is timekeeping, a lot of you are leaving it far too late to set off to work and are then missing buses or connections, we do everything we can to ensure you know where and when you are going to work, some of the responsibility has to lie with you guys, if you are running late and this can be unavoidable sometimes, do call us and let us know, don’t leave it thinking that it won’t matter because it does.

As we are now in January and things can go a little quieter for a couple of weeks so do remember if there are days where you have no work rather than go unpaid use some of your holiday days, give me a call and check what you have in your balance and we can get a holiday form filled out so you don’t miss out.

In all our offices we are currently doing some heavy networking to see what new business we can bring in for 2009, it would be great if you were part of this too! The new clients we bring on ensures continued work for you guys too, so when you are out and about at work, having dinner in a restaurant, or chatting to our existing clients see if you can find out if they know of anyone we could potentially supply to or a contact that may be interested in our services, for every client you bring on you earn yourself £50!! A nice way to boost your January pay packets!

Welcome on board to Mathilde S, Alex R, Ken L, I hope all is going well for you, any problems or questions our door is always open so please pop in and see us, it is also nice to see some old faces back on board such as Adrian C, Andy S and Lynn H, its certainly good to have you back.

Unfortunately there are also some goodbyes too, Jake and Edwin we all hope you have a fantastic time on your travels, when you do come back come in and say hi it would be good to see you and hear about your time away. Congratulations to Andrea R, who has found herself full time work, Andrea has been with us for quite a while now, you will be missed, good luck in your new job, also Patrick B, has found employment through one of our clients, so he has gone from being a fab temp to one of our clients, well done.

I am sure we all now Ron K, he has been with us since CPW Bristol’s opening days, Ron has recently had an operation, we hope you get better soon Ron.

Once again a big thank you for all your hard work and commitment to CPW, lets make sure 2009 is a good year for us all.

Lisa, Adrian and Anna.

We Wish You a Merry Xmas and A CPW New Year!! Swindon News December 2008
Updated: 3rd December 2008
Hello to you all in my last newsletter for 2008!!!!!

Headline News, Hot Off The Press; CPW Hot Cats Ltd celebrates their 9th anniversary of trading this month, huge congratulations to Tracey on building and maintaining the reputation we have as a company.CPW has been establised now for 10 years, 9 years as CPW Hot Cats Ltd. Now is the chance for all to celebrate as without you CPW would not be what it is today. Lets all look forward to many more successful years in the future.

We are almost at the end of my first year as Branch Manager of Swindon. I have certainly learnt a lot and had a fantastic time along the way. I am so grateful to you all for making me so welcome and part of the family.

It’s nearly time to dust off your glad rags and get those party shoes on. The temps Christmas party will be held on Saturday 10th January 2009 at Wroughton Working Mens Club from 7pm onwards. A coach will be put on to pick up Gloucester Temps from the Gloucester office at 6pm, this will stop outside our office at approx 6.45pm to pick up any Swindon temps that require this service, if you require a place you must tell us so we can book you a seat-limited seats available, first come first serve basis. This will also drop off at the end of the evening. I hope all of you can attend; it is a chance for us all to get together and unwind. There will be the usual competitions and plenty of fun and frolics over the course of the evening. Let’s have the biggest turn out yet and see who is left standing at the end of the night!

With only 4 weeks remaining to Christmas I would just like to remind you all of our opening hours over the festive period, Christmas Day and Boxing Day we will be closed, 29th-31st Dec someone will be in the office, opening hours may vary but you can always reach us on the normal office number. We will be closed New Years Day then back to normal office opening hours from the 2nd January. Due to the closures etc it is very important that you ALL have your timesheets in by Friday 19th December if you want to be paid before Christmas, I will not be chasing round any outstandings, if your timesheets are not in by 5pm you WILL NOT be paid untill the following week.
All Bank Holidays over the Christmas period will be paid, provided you have accrued a sufficient amount. Don’t forget to book any future holidays coming up over the next few months. Please call in and see us about this.

A polite reminder to all our Chefs, when coming in to drop off/pick up laundry please ensure all dirty laundry goes in the bin provided. We seem to have a problem lately with aprons, I know we have enough to go round but they seem to be decreasing in volume, so please ensure ALL uniform is bought in to be laundered and that aprons are not being held back. Depending on how many jackets are taken this is how many aprons you should take, any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

At the beginning of November you should have all received a letter from Tracey asking for your feedback on the overall running of the office. Tracey would like to thank those of you that have returned them; all comments are appreciated and treated with confidence. There are still a lot outstanding so we would be most grateful if you could take the time to complete the short questionnaire and return it in a sealed envelope to us. This forms part of our ISO so it is very important we receive as much feedback as possible.

Payslips Payslips Payslips! These are your responsibility to collect from the office every Friday. It is important you keep a record of these as you may need them in the future. Bev’s drawers are over flowing with payslips so please make the effort to pop in and collect them. I know there are a few of you who cant make it in due to work commitments etc so please just call us if you need them posting out to you.

Grumble Time…It is very important if you are due on a booking that you are getting there in plenty of time, we always advise to arrive on site at least 10 mins early then you have time to sign in and go the cloakroom etc, if you are running late, whether it be stuck in traffic, your washing machine leaked, your alarm didn’t go off… Please make the effort to call us so we can let the client know, this way everybody is happy and aware of the situation. I am sure you are all aware of the impending resession, so it is even more vital that we ensure all clients needs are met.

As of January there will be a change to travel allowance, please speak to us in the office to find out more information.

I will take this opportunity now to welcome our new temps on board including Neil, Maria and Patience I hope you all feel part of the CPW family and are happy being part of the team.
I would like to welcome back old faces including Mihaela and Eduardo, it is nice to have you back on board and hope you are happy with your assignments etc.
Now a very sad goodbye and huge Good Luck to Dave L who has been with us pretty much from the beginning. Many of you have probably worked alongside Dave at some point and we all want you to know Dave, we wish you all the best in your new job, as Dave has now gone over Permanent. Like many do I am sure Dave will still help us out on a P/T basis, I have already stolen him back for the Xmas period!

Finally I would like to finish off by thanking you all for your hard work and dedication over the last month. A very merry Christmas to you all and of course a happy new year from everybody in the office. Pop in and see us as you will see our festive spirit shine throughout the office! Don’t forget to book your places for the coach for your party and I will see you all at the bar, followed by the dance floor!!!

Basic Food Hygiene
We run Basic Food Hygiene courses every month here in the office, I need to remind you all this is a legal requirement for all those working in the catering industry to have a valid, in date certificate, we called a lot of you to place you on last months course with not many takers unfortunately, we put these courses on for your benefit, please do take up this facility, the course runs on a Saturday from 9am to 3pm, the next one is in December so we will let you know the date as soon as I have it confirmed, anyone that does not currently have this qualification please do get in touch and put your name forward, the cost of the course to you will be £25, this will be deducted from your weekly wages and can be done in 2 stages of £12.50 per week. If you were to take this course yourself it could cost you anywhere from £30 upwards so do take advantage of the discount we can provide you with

POVA Training (Bristol Temps only)
Another course we run free of charge is POVA training (protection of vulnerable adults) if you have a CRB and have not completed this course yet again let me know, I conduct the course, it takes approx 2 hours and this will open up the doors to working within a lot of nursing homes and schools. The next course date is 9th December at 3pm; let me know if you are interested. The more the better.

Congratulations to Adrianna and Steve who have both secured full time work with a couple of our clients this month, both of them are staying on with us part time, so thankfully we will not lose you all together, but good luck and we hope the job works out well.

We have had so many of you join us the past month or so, Alessio, Glen, Mark W, Jeff M, Domingos, Istvan, Jake, Katrin, Mervyn, Peter B, Toyin and Titus, welcome to you all, and those who I have missed I apologise but I hope you are all settling into CPW life well.

Congratulation to Claudio I, on the birth of his precious baby boy, born at the end of October, he is now home after a difficult start and doing really well, congratulations Claudio.

Anyway I think that’s it for now, so thank you very much for all your hard work over the past few months, it is greatly appreciated and we look forward to a busy busy December and a fantastic knees up in January.

Karl and Maria from Gloucester

Swindon November Newsletter
Updated: 3rd November 2008
A BIG hello to everybody…..

So we have all seen October come and go extremely quickly, the nights are certainly drawing in now. I think we can safely say we are in the thick of autumn and winter is upon us. I hope those that came on Friday for our spooky Halloween party all enjoyed themselves! We certainly had fun; photos were taken so these will be on show soon!

A big thank you to you all for your hard work over the last month, we had a couple of quiet weeks but I think that will be appreciated once we are in the thick of Christmas bookings. You all work very hard for us and I want you all to know it is very much appreciated.

A few changes have been happening lately as you all know. Adrian Gregory in Bristol is now our Perms Consultant as Karl will be staying in Gloucester alongside Tracey and Maria for a while longer. So those of you interested in permanent positions will need to send, up to date CV’s along with work related references to adriangregory@cpwbristol.co.uk and Adrian will be in touch with you. Remember you can look on our website for the permanent positions available at www.cpwhotcats.co.uk; Adrian is in the process of updating all off this but bare with him as a lot of work needs doing to bring it all up to speed.

Once again time for me to have a moan, yes I know I do it every month but some of you are still not listening. Timesheets and Payslips are your responsibility. You MUST get them signed off, dropped in and picked up on a weekly basis. It used to be Claire getting angry with the overflow in her drawers but now Bev is having the same problem. PLEASE all make the effort to ensure this is done. If you cannot get in to collect your payslips, maybe you live miles away or you work all hours going, please call and let Bev know so she can post them out to you.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all the new faces who have come on board including, Alison, Karen, Tim, Ian and Philip I hope you all feel part of the CPW team.
Welcome back to some others including Elias, Jum, Matt W and Ryan, I think you Ryan are on for a record as most re-registered temporary worker! You just can’t stay away.
A sad farewell to Jason H who will be jetting off on his travels again next week, it has been a pleasure having you back and look forward to you coming back with us when you return, thanks for all your hard work and all the cheek you have given us over the last few weeks!
Good luck to Tariq who has now gone over on a perm position we hope it all works out for you, you have worked hard for that and deserve it.
Big congratulations to Mel and partner on their marriage, many happy returns to you both for your happy future together.
Wishing Keith a happy retirement, thanks for all your hard work over the years, enjoy your time to relax and unwind. Don’t forget to stay in touch.

As you are all more than aware Christmas is now only 8 weeks away!!!! A pre warning for you all, the week of Christmas we will be closed Christmas day and Boxing Day, in order for you all to be paid it is VERY IMPORTANT you all have your timesheets in by the end of play on the 19th Dec. Also with Christmas approaching we are organising your temps Christmas party which will be in January, hopefully the weather will not be as awful as last year, snow, floods etc So keep an eye out for the date in the next newsletter and I hope you will all be attending for the fun and frolics on the night.

Finally I think I will finish off by once again thanking you all for your hard work and dedication you give. Let’s hope we have another busy month and remember if you want any extra shifts to earn the extra pennies for Christmas pressies just let me know and I can try and find you additional work. Keep your phones on as this is the only way we can reach you to offer the work, if you are at work check it on your break times.

See and speak to you all soon

Love

Bristol Newsletter November 2008
Updated: 3rd November 2008
Hi all hope you are all keeping well, apologies for there being a lack of newsletters the past couple of months, I have been a bit slack with these of late! There has been a lot happening, firstly as I am sure you are all aware by now, Elaine has left onto pastures new, she decided this was not for her after all, we a new lady in the office now who has taken over the administration role, her name is Anna Heathorn and she is doing a great job at keeping Ade and I in line with all the administrative work that goes on behind the scenes.

Anna will be dealing with all enquires for timesheets, uniforms, change of back details, change of addresses and an awful lot more, so any queries you have along these lines please do contact Anna and I am sure she will be more than happy to help, also if you are passing or phone up do say hello to her and introduce yourselves if you have not already done so, there are a lot of names and faces for her to get to know!

Business is picking up nicely on the run up to Christmas, which is only 8 weeks away!!! So make sure we know of your availability over the holiday period, one of you has already said they are free over Christmas which is great, so anymore takers for this period do let me know as soon as you can. It will not be long before all the Christmas parties start, so bookings will be coming in from everywhere soon, we expect to be very busy so if you have any friends or family after some extra pennies on the build up to Christmas pass them our details to register for work, remember you could earn yourself £30 out of it and remember make hay while the sun shines as they say, remember January can be a lot lot quieter.

Don’t forget that this month we started the breakfast club, so if you do not have any work on a particular day and are keen to get out to work, pop in in the morning with your uniform at your side and have some toast and a coffee with us and the first booking that comes in will be yours. If you think about it it makes sense as you will be in town ready to go asap as soon as we have something in, and trust everyday there is something last minute coming in!

Whilst on the subject of bookings coming in, guys please keep your phones to hand, your phone is your life line for work, and there is nothing more frustrating for us in the office than trying to track someone down and it takes an hours or on a lot of occasions a lot more for you to come back to us. Currently as I am writing this I have 9 various bookings on my desk for specific people and I can not get through to them, it causes an enormous back log our end. So please as said before where possible keep your phones on and at hand.

Adrian has now taken over the perms side of the business again as Karl who was dealing with it previously is now helping Tracey in the Gloucester office, so if you are looking for perm work Ade is the man to see, if you want to email your CV to him his email address is Adriangregory@cpwbristol.co.uk

I have received a call from a potential new client today enquiring as to whether any chefs we know would be interested in taking on their own franchise in a public house, the client has completely refurbed the kitchen and everything is brand spanking new, there is currently no food concept at all here so it would be a great challenge for someone, I was assured minimum funds would be required to take this on as the owners would be prepared to help initially while the business gets going as it is in their interest to get the ball rolling on the food concept. If you are interested or know anyone that may be please let me know.

I bit of a grumble on timesheets guys! I know you are probably saying here we go again! But seriously there are far too many of you relying on us to sort out lost, missing or unsigned timesheets. We really do not have the time do this, it causes Mondays to be held up for far too long, so do make the effort to get all your timesheets in on time before Monday morning. It really will get to the point where I say no more, and leave you payroll till the following week. My job is to ensure you have work in for the week and a Monday is a key day to pull in more hours for you, a day that should not be wasted on chasing timesheets.

Something for you all to look forward, it is nearly time to let your hair down and have some fun! Our temps Christmas party is being organised as we speak, most likely to be the same kind of format as last year, preferably without the snow and road closures for me! Although I did appreciate all the drunken phone calls I received from you lot on the coach on your way to the party, they were very amusing. Watch out for the forthcoming newsletters about coach pick up times.

Anyway I think that’s it for now, so thank you very much for all your hard work over the past few months, it is greatly appreciated.

Lisa, Ade and Anna

Swindon October Newsletter
Updated: 30th September 2008
Hello to all our hard workers……

Well another month has come and gone and boy it has flown by yet again. It only feels like a couple of days ago I was writing up the September newsletter! Once again we have had a very busy month and you have all worked extremely hard over the last few weeks, so a big well done to you all.

I would like to start by introducing our new administrator and receptionist Beverly, known as Bev. Bev started with us last week and has settled in nicely to the office working alongside Claire and I. Bev is responsible for reception and all admin duties so if you have not already met her pop in and introduce yourselves so she can put a face to the name. Bev will be answering the phones on a day to day basis so she can also help you if relevant. Bev herself comes from a catering background so another strong member added to our team.
As some of you have probably noticed Karl is not in Swindon at the moment, he is helping out in our Gloucester office, working alongside Tracey. He will be back in Swindon at some point. He is still dealing with the perm side of the business and can still be contacted on his usual e-mail if anyone is interested in a permanent position, karljoyce@cpwhotcats.co.uk .

Now with Christmas creeping up on us we are going to be getting very busy, if any of you want any extra evening work over the Christmas period then let me know as we will be getting a lot of function work coming on board. Think of the extra pennies you can be earning to help towards those pressies you need to buy. Of course I do not want everyone to be tired and working all hours so if you know of anyone looking for some temporary work over the next few months send them in, remember the “Introduce A Friend Scheme” Recommend a friend who stays on our books and works for us over a period of 12 weeks and you will receive a £30 bonus. We are on the look out for chefs and catering assistants who have their own transport so if you know anyone…..send them our way!

Timekeeping: Ok guys time for a little moan, now the majority of you are very good and always turn up to work in plenty of time but lately we have had a few people turning up late and not informing us before hand. If you are running late please call us and let us know so we can inform the client. Remember if you are due to start at say for instance 8am always arrive at least 10 mins early so you have time to change/toilet etc. If you are booked to start at 8am you must be on site and actually ready to start at 8am not just running through the door. If lateness becomes a constant problem we will have to log non-conformances and this is something we do not like doing.

Timesheets & Payslips: Yet again we are still getting in timesheets that are not fully completed. It is YOUR responsibility to enter your details onto your timesheet, including name, job description, date, unit, client name and temps number. Also you must get the timesheet signed off by the client. When you bring your timesheets in don’t forget to pick your payslips up as the drawer is over flowing now! Remember that all timesheets MUST be in by 9am on Monday mornings, NO TIMESHEET NO PAY!!!

To all our chefs I would like to apologise on behalf of our suppliers for the delay on new chef whites being delivered. It has been a nightmare I know but hopefully things are starting to sort themselves out. You are all aware you can use the spares that we have here but I understand this has been hard as well as we have been running out, but fingers crossed we are getting there!

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome back some old faces who have re-registered with us, Anna, Andrew and Alex hope you are settled back in and back in the swing of things. Also a big welcome to all our new faces including Bart, Bev, Darren, Zofia, Katarzyna, Emily N and Janice, sorry if I have forgotten anyone!! I hope you are all happy being a part of the CPW team and all raring to go for lots of work.
Also a big thanks and good luck to those of you have left and gone on to new ventures, we wish you all the luck in the future.

Finally I will finish off by thanking you all very much for the hard work you have put in over the last month and letting you all know your hard work is appreciated by all of us. We have a busy time ahead of us so prepare yourselves….

Hopefully see and speak to you all soon

Love

Swindon September Newsletter 08
Updated: 2nd September 2008
A big hello to everybody……

So August has come and gone but I just have to ask…What has happened to our summer???? Once again another month has flown by and it certainly has been a busy one. A lot of you have had your holidays over the past month or so, I hope you are all feeling refreshed and yes I had a lovely holiday too so am now back in the swing of things and raring to go.
Just to remind everybody especially those of you who have not taken any holiday pay lately, the holiday year ends on the 10th October. Please make sure you come in and see me, I can let you know what outstanding holiday pay you have owing to you and I can give you the relevant form to fill out. I cannot stress enough how important it is that you ALL do this.

September is upon us and those of you who read my last newsletter will be aware of our exciting “Breakfast Club” that is about to launch. Breakfast Club will provide you the opportunity to be in the office in the morning (if you have no work) where you can have some tea/coffee and toast whilst being here ready for those ASAP bookings we get in every day. Obviously you will need to bring your uniforms with you so you are ready to grab your toast and run if needed!! The Breakfast Club will run Monday to Friday from 7.30-9.30am. So please feel free to use this facility, it is there for you and the more people that use it the more of a success it will be for you and our clients. First arrival of the day makes the coffee!!!

As you are aware we have to process CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) checks so we can send people out to certain units. If you have not already been cleared then please call us and we can arrange if this is suitable for you. The advantage of having this clearance is that more work becomes available to you and as a company we can offer this caliber of staff. As we pay for this document to be processed all we ask is that you assist us by filling out the relevant forms and providing us with the relevant documents and information and of course continue to be a loyal and committed member of the CPW team.

Now I don’t want to scare everybody but it is only 17 weeks till Christmas!!! Aaggghh! My point is, it will not be long and bookings will start stacking up for the xmas lunches and functions, so be warned it is not us going mad, it’s called being organised. So a polite reminder when committing to a booking please ensure you have checked your diaries as it is very hard if we have to re-arrange or give name changes as the next few months are always very busy ones and also we do not like to upset our clients.

Uniforms: Over the next few weeks we will be checking on uniforms. When you are next in the office please spare a couple of minutes to show us you’re uniform or if you need replacement uniforms make sure you inform us. As you all know Tracey has always had a strict policy on everybody arriving at work looking smart and professional. I would like to say on several occasions we do receive good comments on how smart and well presented you always look, so lets all muck in and keep this standard going.

Timesheets & Payslips: Can we all please re-read your handbooks as it does show in here how to complete your timesheets. We are still receiving an awful lot of timesheets with missing information, some even without names and units! This makes our job extremely difficult when trying to process these ready for payroll. Always remember to fill in the relevant boxes, if you do not understand anything then PLEASE ask us. Also can we all remember to come in and collect your payslips on a weekly basis, if this is a problem then please call and let us know and we can come up with an alternative.

Always remember that incentive you can gain from us: Recommend a friend who stays on our books and works for us over a period of 12 weeks and you will receive £30 bonus. Recommend a client who places a booking with us and you will receive £50 bonus. If you know of anyone let us know and we can give you the relevant form to fill out. Just so you are all aware we are in need of car driving Chefs and Catering Assistants so bear this in mind.

If any of you are looking or knows anyone who is looking for Permanent work come in and see Karl as he has lots of vacancies on now. Go to our website www.cpwhotcats.co.uk to check these out. All that is needed is an up to date CV with 2 work related references.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all the new faces that have joined the CPW team, I hope you are all feeling settled and feel a valued member of CPW. Also a big thanks to those of you who have left over the last month I am hope you all go on to bright new ventures and remember we are here if you need any extra work. A big thanks to our uni students, most of you are due to go back over the next week or so, hopefully we will see you all back over the Christmas period, let us know when you are due back.

Finally I will finish off by thanking you all for your hard work and dedication over the past month hope you are all feeling ready for another busy month! When you get the chance pop in and say hi as we like to see you all so we can catch up.

Speak to you all soon

Love

Bristol August 2008 Newsletter
Updated: 30th July 2008
Hi Guys and Girls hope you are all well and enjoing the sunshine we have been having.

As some of you are already aware, Elaine has started within the office and is making great head way in her role as administrator here. For those of you who have not met her yet please do pop in a say hello, there are so many of you to get used to it would be nice for her to be able to faces to names. Elaine will be your point of contact for all timesheet, direction and uniform quieries.

During August I will be in Swindon for the first 2 weeks and then have a few days off myself, so I will not be around much, should you have any general quieries and need someone Ade will be here as usual so give him a ring, however if it something specific you want to talk to me about feel free to call me in Swindon.

As of the 1st of September we are going to be introducing a Breakfast Club to the office, as you know there is always the odd day where you want work but we have not managed to fill your day as yet and you end up waiting by your phone for the call, the Breakfast Club will provide you the opportunity to be in the office in the morning (if you have no work) where you can have some tea/coffee and toast whilst being here ready for those asap bookings we get in every day.

Ranstad Timesheets
This is still a big problem every week, I can only help you out so much. Everyone but everyone who is working in a Bristol City Council run nursing home or day centre MUST sign in and out on the generic Randstad timesheets without fail, you can not be paid without this, even if the client on site tells you to use one of your CPW timehseets do not listen stress to them it must be on their main Randstad one, it is your pay and your responsibility, so please do not assume someone else at the unit will take care of it for you and do not assume I will either. The homes and day centres have a lot of agency staff in and out each day, carers, domestic cleaners and catering staff, they can not deal with your timesheets as well.

CRB’s
At CPW as a lot of you know we provide catering staff in too many places where there are vunerable people, such as schools, nurseries, homes for the elderly and community centres, we are constantly looking for Chefs and Catering staff that will happily have a Criminal Records Beaureu check done, clearing them to work in these kinds of environments, if this is something you are willing to do, and would like to open up further avenues for work, all you need to do is bring in your Passport, Driving License or full birth certificate and some proof of address, utility bill, council tax bill, bank statement something official. We will pay for it for you and do all the form filling!!

Bristol Buses and Communication
A lot of you are experiening issues with the buses of late which is resulting in lateness, some of the routes are bad for buses running late or not turning up, please make sure you allow yourself enough time for problems like this arrising. However if you are running late again make sure you call in to let us know this way we can pre-warn the client that is waiting for you. We are getting calls through from clients saying that so and so has not arrived and should have been there half an hour ago and we are non the wiser, then when we try to get hold of you there is no answer! You must communicate with us and keep us informed.

All that leaves me with is to welcome Patrick B, Alex S, Danielle W, Hazel W, Neal T, Nia H, Pete S, Tim S, to CPW and I hope you are all settling in and feeling part of the team. Also welcome back to Tony S, Charles H, Ivona T, Matt H, Sean L and Hugh D, Hugh give me a bit of a telling off last month as I missed him off, how could I !! Hopefully I have remembered everyone this time. It’s really good to see so many new faces and even greater to see some familiar ones too, it does hopefully show you do feel valued and looked after, either that or your all suckers for my sarcastic, witty retorts!!

Don’t forget where we are it is nice to see you on a Friday afternoon so do come in if you can and say hi,

Speak soon

Lisa, Ade and Elaine.

Swindon August Newsletter
Updated: 30th July 2008
A big hello to all of you. I must start by apologising for not producing a July newsletter, the time just flew and before I could blink we were in the 2nd week of July and I felt it was too late to write to you all, so yes that does mean I will be jabbering on in this one!
Well where do I start, July was my 1 year anniversary with CPW and blimey it has flown by. It has been a whirlwind ride and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I want to thank you all for making my first year such a pleasurable one.
We are fast approaching August and it is quite scary to think it is only 5 months away till Christmas. This time of year is a funny one as it is the calm before the storm, those of you that have been with us for many years will know what I mean, I learnt this last year. These next few weeks will soon past and before we know it I will be offering you bookings for Christmas lunches and functions. So we have a lot to look forward to, all exciting things coming up in the pipeline.

A fond farewell to Sam from A1 Wyvern as she has now left the company to explore other avenues. You will be missed by us all, take care and all the best for the future. Claire will now be the main contact for A1 Wyvern so anyone looking for a new career in commercial, industrial or engineering pop in and see Claire.

I am off to Crete on the 5th Aug for a nice relaxing holiday!! Whilst I am away Lisa will be covering the desk for me. So try and make the time to pop in and say hello as she does not get down here much as she is running Bristol, most of you will know Lisa but those who don’t I am sure you will make the effort to introduce yourselves. Karl will still be here for the first week but may have to cover in our Bristol office the second, but you all know Claire and she will still be here throughout to help with any queries you may have. I will be thinking of you all whilst I am busy tanning myself and sipping on cocktails!!

Exciting news for all of you, as of September this year we will be starting a “breakfast club” I am sure you are all wondering now what I mean…Basically those of you who are not booked on anything will be welcome to come in the office early morning, in your uniforms ready to go to work, as you all know we get last minute bookings in on day to day basis so if you are here and ready to go we can send you out to work. There will be hot drinks and toast available for you to keep you occupied, we cannot of course guarantee that work will come through for you but if you are here you have more chance of getting first dibs. If we are feeling generous we may even stretch to bacon sarnie!

Welcome back to a lot of our uni students who have come back for a couple of months. We are working our utmost to find you all work. We have also registered on some new uni students which is good, I want you all to remember Christmas time is when you really can earn the money so remember when you go back to let us know roughly your return dates for the Christmas break as we will be extremely busy then!

Now its time for me to have a little moan…. TIMESHEETS TIMESHEETS TIMESHEETS!!!! It is very important that your timesheets are dropped off and with us by the very latest 9am on a Monday morning. I repeat this in every newsletter so here is a challenge for you all, let’s see if over August you get them all in on time and then I will not have to mention this in September’s newsletter. It is YOUR responsibility to get them signed and in to us. We do not have time to chase this up for you; also it is not fair to expect clients to chase around on a Monday morning to fax the over to us if it has been forgotten. Always remember to have timesheets on you so then you won’t forget.

Can I just remind you all to ensure you are following our uniform policy and standards. You must be in black and whites/chef whites unless otherwise specified. Your uniforms must be clean and pressed every time you arrive on site. Always remember to wear your safety shoes if in kitchens, if you do not have any and would like to purchase some from us, just call me and I can sort this out for you. I would strongly advise you have safety shoes as KP/CA as it is for your protection, all our chefs MUST wear safety shoes. Also please remember to turn your phones off in units as mobile phones should not be used in the workplace. You can check them for messages (probably from me!) on your break times.

If any of you are looking or knows anyone who is looking for Permanent work come in and see Karl as he has lots of vacancies on now. Go to our website www.cpwhotcats.co.uk to check these out. All that is needed is an up to date CV with 2 work related references.

There have been lots of welcomes, goodbyes, new babies etc so I will take this opportunity to welcome all the new faces that have come on board and joined the CPW team including, Linda, Mariam, Paul, Gail, Fiona, Rachel, Grace, Nadene, Daniel, Anyetta, Amy and Charlotte, I think that is everybody apologies if I have missed anybody! Also we would like to welcome back Pedro who has re-registered with us and also Steve, which tells everybody something as we have people coming back to us all the time. I hope everybody feels a valued member of the CPW team.
Congratulations to Mary N and partner on the birth of their baby girl Olivia, we wish you all the best for the future, don’t forget to pop in and see us next time you are in town.
We have also had some goodbyes, best of luck to Bukola, Jo, Nicole and Ryan in your new jobs, we wish you all the best.
Also congratulations to Jon G on becoming landlord of The Bell at Faringdon all the best in your new venture, we will all be coming in to receive our complimentary drinks!

Finally I would like to wish everybody a lovely August and remember to keep those phones on so we can give you bookings. Pop in and say hi to us and a big thank you for all your hard work and dedication over the last couple of months.

Take Care

Bristol News July 2008
Updated: 4th July 2008
Cricky these newsletter come around quickly! Adrian and I have had a hectic month with one thing and another, but thankfully the load will be lightened a bit from July 14th. We have recruited a new administrator for the office, her name is Elaine and as said she will be joining the CPW family as of Monday 14th July, so please do make her feel welcome, pop in and say hi or when you ring up introduce yourselves, as she will become a large part in your lives in the near future.
Elaine will be handling things like your directions to work, change of details, checking availability and a lot more, so any thing like that she will be your lady to speak to.

Over the coming weeks Adrian will be taking up his previous role of New Sales and will be spending a lot more time finding potential new clients for you all to impress, so if you have any leads for him over the coming weeks please do not hesitate to call or drop him an email, remember the more new clients he can gain the more work we have in to keep you all out of trouble!

I will be running the desk as I am currently so will be dealing with all your bookings and payroll, as usual you know where I am if you need anything.

We are having a few minor hiccups with certain things that I would just like to clarify with you all, so please read carefully:-

1. Chef Whites, each chef is issued with 6 sets of chefs’ whites, we launder these whites and they are collected and dropped back to us twice weekly (Tuesday and Fridays). Those of you who use the laundry service please remember we have enough in stock for everyone so long as you keep to the systems in place. Please do not store up your whites until all 6 are dirty and then come in for another 6, you need to use the twice weekly facility, another words if you bring in 2 sets on a Tuesday for laundry you will have 4 here to collect from the previous delivery. You need to keep within your allocated 6 sets otherwise when some of the other chefs come in to collect theirs we are out of stock, you may think this is not really your problem but it will be when you are the one coming in for your whites and there are none left.

2. The on call service, the office is open and manned by Adrian and myself from 7.30-5pm Monday to Friday, contrary to belief we are not in here 24 hours a day 7 days a week, from 5pm the phones are diverted through to the on call mobile and one of us is available for any urgent issues you may have, such as sickness, lateness etc… whilst we are on call we are obviously at home and not in the office, we seem to be getting a lot of calls that we can just not deal with out of the office and that really could wait until the office re-opens the next working day. So if you have a payroll query, change of personal details such as address or bank details, or you are phoning with your availability for the following week please respect the fact that the out of hours service is for emergencies, whilst we love you all to bits there are certain things we just can not help with from home.

3. Duties and Responsibilities: We have had a couple of calls from clients in relation to what they can expect from a chef that is booked on a CDP, Sous or Head Chef booking, please be rational when out at work, if you are booked out on a CDP job for one day, and a delivery comes in that needs checking off and putting away, it is within you job to do so, this does not automatically become upgraded to a Sous chef, you are in the unit maintaining the kitchen for the day and sometimes deliveries may came in such as daily fruit and veg that needs dealing with by the on duty chef. However on the other side of the coin if you in a unit for a week long booking as a CDP and you find yourself there as a lone chef or senior chef and you are doing all the ordering and running of the kitchen and its team in total then call us and we will liaise with the client over your rate.

4. Randstad Timesheets: Please note that the working week runs differently on any Council run Elderly Peoples homes, their timesheets run from a Sunday to a Saturday, so for example last week ran from the 14-21st June, so anyone working on the Sunday 22nd June will have their pay in the following week’s wages.

Any questions on the items raised above please feel free to call me and I will answer any questions you have.

Thank you to everyone for your continued hard work it is appreciated, we would also like to wish Lee and Almudena all the best, Lee has moved to Oxford and Almudena has found herself a full time job, so good luck for the future. Also welcome to David W, Dave. R, Aicha, Charlie, Josh, Caz, Joss, Ian P, Will F, and Will K, also welcome back Charity and Wojiech!! All of you have joined us throughout June and it is great to have you on board.

Well I think that’s it this time round, lets hope July brings in a lot of work and sunshine!

Speak soon

Lisa and Ade

Swindon June Newsletter
Updated: 2nd June 2008
Hello again everybody… May has come and gone and I think you will all agree it has flown by! June is here but we seem to be missing the sunshine, if anyone knows where it is hiding please let me in on the secret. May has been yet another busy month with lots to talk about and we have another busy one ahead of us, so I hope you are all up for the hours and raring to go.

I am going to start by telling you all about National Temps Week as we will be celebrating this 2nd-6th June. This week is a dedicated week to all you guys that work so hard throughout the year on a temporary basis. It is a chance to recognise the amount of temporary workers up and down the country and let you all know how much you’re hard work is appreciated. Without you lot many companies would be very short staffed! I hope you have all received your letters about our party in the office on Friday 6th June. It starts at 2.30pm onwards and you are all invited. There are several awards up for grabs, but can I just say please please please don’t be offended if you don’t get one as I am pulling my hair out trying to decide who deserves one, as you ALL do! If we could we would give everybody awards but unfortunately that is not how it works. But you are all awarded with drinks and nibbles so nobody will go without. It would be fantastic to see you all together so please do try and attend; it also gives you the chance to meet people who work for the same team as you do. Who knows if the atmosphere is right we can continue the celebration into town….

TIMESHEETS TIMESHEETS TIMESHEETS!!! These must be in to the office by 9am on a Monday morning. You all know this and things were a lot better but some people are starting to get slack again on this, so please to all of you that forget, and you know who you are ensure this is done. We do not have time to chase outstanding timesheets on a Monday morning. Also make sure you are filling them out correctly they must be signed and must have all relevant fields filled out, including your name, place of work and how many hours worked. Believe it or not we are quite clever in here but none of us are physic. No timesheets, no pay!

Just to let you all know in the office now on Fridays we will be having “Dress Down Days” those who participate from the office staff have to donate £2 and the money raised by the staff over the year will then be matched by the company and donated to The Samaritans. So we are not getting slack on uniform incase some of you wondered, we are doing it to raise money for a good cause.

In the last news letter I did let you all know that it is your responsibility to come in the office and collect your payslips once a week. Some people have been good little eggs and come in to collect them but Claire still has lots outstanding, and it is getting to the point where the steam coming out of her ears is starting to effect her hearing!! So please do try and get in to get them or call her and she can get them out in the post to you.

I would like to welcome the new faces that have come on board with us over the last month, I hope you are all settled in and have been made to feel like part of the CPW team.
I would like to congratulate Ruth K who has been offered a perm job, it will be very sad to see you go as you have been with us for some years now, but as we said you are more than welcome to stay on P/T for us.

Finally I would like to finish off by wishing everybody a lovely June. I hope to see you all on the 6th for a drink or two or three… Please do try and come in as it is nice to all get together. And who knows you may have a bottle of bubbly to collect if you have won an award!

Take care

National Temp Week - Bristol June 2008
Updated: 30th May 2008
Well in theory summer is upon us, although it certainly doesn’t feel like it. Being this time of year it is time to celebrate National Temporary Workers week again. Last year was a really good afternoon, the beer was flowing and we all had a good laugh which is what it’s all about.

This year we are holding our awards ceremony in the office as usual on Friday 6th June from 2.30pm. There will be plenty of beer, wine and nibbles so make sure you pop in.

Every week 1.4 million temporary workers are keeping businesses rolling across the UK, which is an increase of 7% on last year. If it wasn’t for you there would be an astronomical short fall of staff in so many industries across the country. this is why we celebrate this week every year.

CPW has now existed for nearly 10 years and is going from strength to strength, so much so we have been able to open our third office in the South West, with the recent edition of Gloucester, and it is because of you! There have been an awful lot of new faces so far in 2008 to the Bristol office which is great to see and I hope you are all feeling part of the team; there are also lot of you that have been with us for 2 years or more which again is fantastic.

We are giving awards to the following people in the categories listed below:

Long Service Award –Chris Moody, and Ron Kerpner

Best New Chef – John Barnes
Best New Catering Assistant – Gloria Alverez
Gone the extra mile – Nick Baloye
Chef of the Year –Simon Thatcher
Catering Assistant of the Year – Les Moleleki
Kitchen Porter of the Year – Thomas Zimunya
Bar/Waiter of the Year – Agata Kujawka
Cleaner of the Year – Natalaja Varnavskaja

The winners of each category will receive a bottle of bubbly to enjoy, so make sure you all come in, there more people the better.

Don’t forget we are still looking for an Administrator to join us in the office, hours of work will be 7.30-5pm Monday to Friday, salary £11-14,000 per annum depending on experience, if you are interested yourself or know of anyone that would fit the bill please do let me know.

Please remember you MUST have your timesheets in for payroll before Monday morning, there are a lot of you that are forgetting to bring them in again and this is a real pain for me when doing payroll as I have to call you or get them authorised by the client, your timesheets also form part of our invoicing process, so we need them in as much as you do. Please make sure they are in on time! Whilst on the subject of Payroll, a few of you are phoning with payroll queries on the out of hours service, please do avoid doing this as when we are not in the office there is very little we can say or do to help with this kind of enquiry, however as soon as we are back in the office the next working day we will be happy to help.

A few weeks ago we had a problem with our on call mobile which meant I had to divert the phones to my personal mobile, 95 % of the weekend there was no issue however there were some of you that tried contacting us on the direct number for the company mobile which obviously did not get through to me, please make sure you ring the office land line number at all times 0117 9252555 and this will bounce through to which ever mobile has been allocated to the divert, do not call the mobile directly.

Each of you have holiday pay accruing as you are working, this is not listed on your payslips, however I have an up to date list sent to me each week with how many days holiday you have earnt so far, your holiday year runs from October to September, so do remember you will need to use this over the course of the year. If you are unsure of your holiday entitlement just call and I can give this to you over the phone. Should you wish to book any days of you will need to complete and sign a holiday form.

Our next Basic Food Hygiene course is running on the 28th June, if you are interested in attending this please let me know. Apologies to those who were booked on the course for last weekend which had to be cancelled.

Congratulations to Sam and Rob who have both gained full time work with one of our long standing clients, I hope it all goes well, welcome to Michael D, Andy H, Jamie B, and Lina, also welcome back to Sarah and Ed, its nice to see old and new faces with us. I hope you all settle into CPW well and if you have any issues please contact myself or Adrian.

Both Adrain and I look forward to seeing you all next Friday,

Lisa

Hi all hope you are well, as always nothing stands still for long in CPW, I am back in the office after my time in Gloucester, it is lovely to be back and I am trying to touch base with you all again to say hello, as I have missed you all tremendously!!!! It would be good to see you as well, so please do pop in the office and say hi.
As a lot of you will be aware Gauri has now left us to carry on her career and I am sure you will all agree she will be missed a lot however we all wish her well and lots of luck in her new role. Steve too is leaving us, he is missing life in hotels too much, Steve’s last day will be this Friday, so please do try and give him a call or pop in to say goodbye, I know he would appreciate it.

So that leaves me and Ade in the office, (poor Ade, stuck in a room alone with me all week!!) we are looking to recruit and Administrator for the office in Bristol, the hours of work will be 7.30-5pm, salary £11,000-£13,000 depending on experience, we need someone with good computer skills and knowledge of the catering industry, bubbly, self motivated with a good sense of humour, if you are interested or know someone who may be, give me a call to find out more details.

Unfortunately for you guys and girls that means I am back doing payroll, so you know that means I really wont be chasing timesheets, all your timesheets must be in by Monday morning without fail, I must admit most were this week, there will still a few stragglers, please do make sure they are in, it is your responsibility. With that in mind please remember Monday 5th May and Monday 26th May, therefore your timesheets being in are even more imperative on these dates as we have one less day to process the payroll.

We have brought on a couple of large new clients over the past two months and the feedback has been great! We are getting continued work from these clients and it is thanks to your hard work, so thank you for representing CPW and yourselves so well.

We have our next Basic Food Hygiene course set for the 24th of May which is a Saturday as usual, if you are interested please let us know in the office. Remember it is a legal requirement to hold this certificate if you work in Catering.

We would like to wish Andras K, and Steve H good luck in their full time jobs, they are both still with us for evening a weekend work, but all the same good luck. Welcome to Ann R, Amit S, Christian M, Godwin I, Sonia F, Simon D, and a big welcome back to Jesse W and Sarah C, it’s good to see you back.

Let’s hope the weather picks up for May!!!
Speak to you all soon

Swindon May Newsletter
Updated: 30th April 2008
Well it is time already for me to let you all in to what has happened throughout April and what is coming up in the future, so here we go…
First of all thanks to all of you for your hard work over April, we did have a quiet week but things are certainly back up to scratch again now. We are also getting in a lot of weekend work so if you are up for any extra shifts then let us know; if you are prepared to travel we also have Bristol and Gloucester who may need an extra pair of hands from time to time.
We now have a new face in the office, Wanda has joined the team and she will be undertaking the role of Junior Admin. So please do introduce yourself when you come in so she can get to know you and you can benefit from meeting a new member of our team.

As you are all more than aware we have a couple of Bank Holidays coming up (Hooray) the first one on 5th May and second on 26th May. This does mean the office will be closed, so unfortunately us lot get a long weekend!! Remember with the office being closed this does put everything behind so it is very important that you all remember to drop off your TIMESHEETS as the payroll cannot hold out, no timesheets, no pay! Try and get them in on the Fridays before or drop them through the letter box over the weekend. Also all our chefs please remember to bring your laundry in early on the Tuesdays if you miss us on the Friday.

A polite reminder to everybody from our little Claire. Her drawer is always overflowing with payslips; please remember to come in the office once a week to pick up your payslips. If you cannot always make it in due to work commitments or extreme circumstances then please do call and Claire can post them out to you. It is important that you keep your payslips so you have record of your payments. Also Claire is still waiting on a lot of the forms she handed out so we can update your records please try and drop them off next time you are popping in as we don’t want to see an upset Claire!!

Anybody interested in Permanent work please come in and see Karl as we have lots of vacancies up and running at the moment. Always check out our job boards and website, www.cpwhotcats.co.uk for all information.
Again don’t forget the incentive we offer of “Introduce a Friend” who works for us for 13 weeks and you will receive a bonus of £30. “Introduce a Client” who places a booking with us and you will receive a £50 bonus; see Amy for the relevant forms.

We have had quite a few sad goodbyes this past month, as people are moving on to new challenges, which we wish them all the best.
Good luck to Ryan S who is moving away, but may be near our Gloucester office so remember you can sign up there.
Best of luck to Lynne R and her partner who have taken the plunge and bought their own pub. We all hope it works out for you and we will have to pop by and have a complimentary drink sometime!!
Good Luck to Mehmet and George who have gone into fulltime employment, all the best but the good thing is you are both staying on part time with us, which is great news.
Congratulations to Christina W who has also gone into business and opening her own café bar, wishing you the best of luck with this.
You will all be missed a great deal and if I have forgotten anybody I do apologise, but let’s not forget we have also welcomed a lot of new faces and old ones this past month I hope you all feel part of the strong CPW team.

If any of you have holidays coming up but have not yet informed me then please do come in and fill out a holiday form, I would be grateful if you could let us have 2 weeks notice.

All please remember that we hold Basic Food Hygiene courses which everyone working within the catering industry should hold certificates. Our next one is being held on 7th June so if you would like to attend and we have not yet contacted you please call in and speak to Karl who can arrange this.
Also if you would like to CRB cleared which would give you the opportunity for further work in schools, residential homes etc then please contact Amy as we are always looking for CRB candidates.

Finally I will finish off by wishing everybody a lovely May, let’s hope the sun puts his hat on so we can all enjoy some rays and BBQ’s. Next time you are in town remember to pop in and see us all here.

Take Care

There have been some changes as there always are in life, and as a valued member of CPW we like to keep you up to date with what is happening so here goes!!
You will have noticed that Lisa Cortez (our Area Manager) is no longer in the office, this is due to her moving back to our Bristol branch, and I am sure you will agree our loss is their gain. On a happier note, Lisa has been replaced for the foreseeable future by Tracey Martin (Managing Director!!) please do come into the office and introduce yourself to Tracey.
We are currently looking for a general administrator/receptionist to work alongside Tracey and Libby. Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm, starting salary 12k. The ideal candidate must have a sound knowledge of Word, Microsoft Outlook and be generally PC Literate, good customer skills and telephone manner are also criteria. Interested or know any who may be? Speak to Tracey.
If you have your own transport and are prepared to travel we are always in need of extra staff in the Swindon and Bristol areas, so again please do let us know.
Did you know that if you introduce a new Client to us and they use our services we would pay you a bonus of £50? And if you introduce a new temp, and they work for us for 13 weeks we pay you £30.
Are you CRB cleared? If so we may be able to offer you more work, just bring your CRB clearance form into the office. If you are not cleared call in and see Libby for information on how to obtain this.
Dates for your diary:

Two bank holidays in May (yippee) the first being 5th May and the second 26th. We are closed on both of this date so please ensure your timesheets are posted through the office letterbox to guarantee payment for the Friday.
A Basic Food Hygiene course will be run on Saturday 10th May 9.30am – 3.30pm, Andy Maddox is our course tutor and makes learning fun, we currently have 6 people booked on this course, if you are interested please come and see Libby, you must have your Basic Food Hygiene Certificate to work within the catering industry, it is our licence as safe food handlers. You will be surprised at what you learn.
Please remember to have your phone switched on, ready for work, with your work clothes clean and pressed waiting to be used, the more flexible you are the more work you are likely to gain.
That just leaves me to wish you a very happy month of May.
Kind Regards
Tracey Martin and Libby Pond

Swindon April 08 Newsletter
Updated: 31st March 2008
The April showers are due already and haven’t they come quick! It only seems like last week when I was writing the March newsletter. Well Easter has come and gone and I hope everybody had a lovely Easter break, there were some of you who were out working on the Easter holidays so a big thanks to all of you. We had a nice 4 day break here in the office but it was soon over. March has been a busy busy month and I am pleased to see the weekends are picking up again nicely. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your hard work and dedication throughout March.

Now a little thing I would like to mention to everybody is always remember when turning up on a booking you must always look smart, wearing the correct uniform, which must be clean and pressed and with a nice smile on your face. Always remember not only are you representing CPW but also the client you are working for and yourself. A smart and smiley face will always be remembered and requested in the future, so keep this in mind as it may bring you further work in the future. Also a polite reminder all mobile phones should not be switched on when working, some of you keep them on silent as I know I am the first to call when I get bookings in. Always remember if you do use your phone do so on a break or ask permission first. With our new system on the computer I can now text you all, so instead of getting you in trouble I will text and you can call on your break.

Timesheets: Please ensure you are all filling these out correctly as it is more time consuming for us here in the office if we have to go over and fill out all boxes. Remember to put in your temps number which will be on your welcome letter, week ending date and also the tax week. The most important thing to remember is to ensure you get is signed by the client, we do not have time to chase missing timesheets so please ensure you get this done. It is your responsibility to get your timesheets filled out and signed and delivered to us on TIME. I need them before 9am on Monday mornings, NO TIMESHEET, NO PAY.

I would like to say congratulations to Tracey W on the birth of her baby boy, Luke, and also to Elias and partner on the birth of their baby girl, many sleepless nights to come.
A sad farewell to Urszula (Ula) who has left us as moving elsewhere, you will be missed. Also good luck to Dan who has moved on to a new career, hope all goes well for you in the future.
A big welcome to all the new faces that have come on board and welcome back to those that have re-registered like, Paul, Kevin, Steve, Janette and Lynn. I hope all feel like part of the CPW team.

Karl is getting a lot of vacancies come on board for perm positions so if any of you or you know anyone who is looking for a new career or feel they are stuck in a rut and want a new challenge then send them our way. Always remember that we have a website and you can find us at www.cpwhotcats.co.uk. All vacancies are posted on here and people can also register online. On the temporary side of things like I mentioned earlier the weekend functions are picking up so those of you who are looking to earn extra money let me know if you have free time. I am always interested to know if your availability changes as I could fill your spare days.

All of you that are registered next time you are in the office please see Claire for a form we would like you to fill out. It is just so we are all clear on exactly where you are willing to travel too as we now have our new office in Gloucester so work is branching out in new areas if you would be interested. Also if you can spare 30 seconds to fill out feedback forms we would appreciate it as we like to know everyone is inducted properly and looked after. We always appreciate any ideas or comments you may have, so don’t be shy.

Finally I would like to finish off by saying I hope everybody has a good April and remember the more work you do the more them chocolate eggs will be worked off that we have all indulged in over the last couple of weeks!

Take Care

Hope you all had a good Easter, that the Easter Bunny was kind to you and you didn’t eat too much chocolate!! Also by the time this reaches you it will be British Summertime – hopefully we might get some sun!
This brings me on to holidays!! Please do keep us informed of your holiday dates & don’t forget to pop in and sign a holiday form to release your holiday pay, you can always check what you’ve accrued so far!

Steve has been a busy bee, and has brought some new clients on board, and has many other irons in the fire, so we are working hard to ensure you’ve all got the work you need. There will be in particular more function work over the next few months so keep us posted of any additional availability you have on weekends & evenings.
If you have any new client leads again speak to Steve, & you could earn yourself some extra cash if they come on board! Also you will be rewarded if you introduce a new temp, and they work for us for at least twelve weeks.

Congratulations to Claudio, Tanisha, & Jose who have recently passed the POVA training for nursing homes. If you are CRB cleared & have not completed this training do let us know as this will open up much more work for you. If you’ve not got a CRB please, please, come & see us & we will help you with the forms & documents!
Next POVA training 19th April 10.00am – 12noon, in the Bristol Office.

Next Basic Food Hygiene Course 26th April in the Bristol Office, again this is a legal requirement to complete, if you need a refresher also let us know.

Welcome on board at CPW to Alp, Greg, John, & Karolis, also good to welcome back Jose & Sarah.

Well that’s all for now, just to say it’s always good to see you all, do call into the office, & continue being good ambassadors for CPW.

Speak you all soon,

Gloucester News for April 2008
Updated: 28th March 2008
Hi Guys and Girls hope you all had a lovely, relaxing Easter break, if you are anything like me you would have roped your other halves into some DIY!! (He was not impressed!) I tried to load as many of you as possible up with Easter Eggs from us at CPW, some of you didn’t come in last week so I still have a few here if you have not over loaded yourselves with Chocolate yet come in and grab one!! Speaking of time off, now we are coming into the Spring/Summer period if any of you have planned holidays please let either Libby or myself know so we can plan bookings around them, the last thing you want is a call from us while you are sunning yourselves in some remote, hot destination.

This weekend please remember to put your clocks forward 1 hour on Saturday 29th March. Spring forward/fall back remember! I wouldn’t want any of you arriving 1 hour late for work.

As you all know we operate a 24/7 on call service, so when the office closes we divert the phones through to the company mobiles and either Libby or I will be on call. Please when using this facility call the office number 01452 524770 not the mobile number itself, both Libby and me use different mobiles when on call, so if you call Libby’s or my on call phone direct when we are off that weekend we will get grumpy! We really don’t want that! Only joking-but please do call the office number as that way you will get through to the appropriate person. Thanks.

Whilst on the subject of phones please, please, please, keep your phones on and to hand at all times, we have been trying to contact a few of you over the past couple of weeks and it can take hours or sometimes days for you to come back to us. We have a 15 minute response to all of our bookings, so if we can not get hold of you it really plays havoc with this and causes us problems. So do try your best to come back to us as soon as possible.

I would also like to say a BIG thank you to those of you who have been working so hard for us lately, Diane, Derek, Deb, Tsungai, Marie, Laura, Tim, Inga, Manuel, Steve you have all gone the extra mile for us on a few occasions now and it really is appreciated, we are getting some fantastic feedbacks on you all, even to the point where one of you is being recommended for employee of the month in a place where you don’t even work!!! Brilliant, thank you ever so much to you all, we are building good, lasting rapports with our clients and it is down to you guys.

We are going to start holding Basic Food Hygiene courses in Gloucester now we have a few of you on board and working regularly, I will let you know of the date in due course, but hopefully I will get one arranged for late April. The course will be held in our Gloucester office on a Saturday. CPW uses the services of a very lovely Andy Maddox who carries out these courses in our other offices with a fantastic success rate, so if you would like to be put down for this please let me know, there is no charge to you at all, we fund the course entirely, it is our investment in you.

Every year we celebrate National Temporary Workers week in each office, it is our way of showing appreciation to all of you that work so hard for us throughout the year, every week 1.2 million temporary workers are keeping businesses rolling across the UK, if it wasn’t for you guys there would be an astronomical short fall of staff in so many industries which is why so many Recruitment Agencies celebrate this week every year. We will be giving awards in June covering various categories, so watch this space for further information.

Don’t forget our recommend a friend scheme where you can earn £30 or bring a client on board and bag yourself £50 for your effort if they book with us. We have plenty of business cards in the office, just ask for some and you could give them to anyone you think would need our services.

Finally congratulations to Manuel on the birth of his ‘princess’ as he calls her. He brought her in to visit last week and she is gorgeous, I even offered by babysitting services she was that adorable! Must be mad!

Take care and speak to you all soon,

Lisa and Libby

Swindon March Newsletter
Updated: 4th March 2008
Well its time again for the newsletter and hasn’t February flown by! It is soon time for the Easter bunny to be knocking at our doors.
February has been a very busy month and I think you will all agree with this. There have been a lot of bookings flying in from everywhere and thanks to you guys we have managed to get them filled. The weekend functions are starting to pick up again now so hopefully all you part timers will be out a lot more now. I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your hard work and dedication throughout February.

One thing which I would like to get across to everybody is when we get bookings in we only have a short response time to get back to our clients with confirmations. To help us keep this standard, if we phone you and you are not available do not be disappointed if the booking is filled when you come back to us. I suppose what I am trying to say is always have your phones on, we understand if working this is not allowed but always check it when you have a break as you may have a text or voicemail from us. Also when you commit to a booking we expect you to hold that commitment and complete the booking. If for some reason you are unable to work we would appreciate as much notice as possible as we will have to cover your position. This means finding a new temp and giving the client a name change which we don’t always like doing but sometimes cannot be helped.

As I have already mentioned it will not be long until the Easter Bunny is going to be hopping around. Easter is very early this year; Good Friday is the 21st March. Therefore the offices will be closed on Good Friday (21st) and bank holiday Monday (24th). So you can probably guess what is coming next….TIMESHEETS must be with us by 7.30am on Tuesday 25th March, at the very latest. If they are not in you will not be paid as our payroll will be going through late as it is so we will not have the time to chase any outstanding timesheets. Also as we will be closed on the Good Friday you will be able to collect your payslips on Thursday 20th March. Please make sure you take note of this as we do not want people to go without pay.

Karl has been pushing the perm side of the business and now has lots of vacancies on board. He is always in need of new candidates so if you know anyone looking for fulltime work within catering who has the experience send them in for a chat. All Karl would need is a CV from them. All vacancies are on our website, people can also register via the website so why not have a look. You can find us at www.cpwhotcats.co.uk.
On the temporary side of things we have been extremely busy and have struggled to fill some bookings so always remember to let me know if you have any extra availability that I am unaware of. Even if it is just the odd day I could probably get you out somewhere.

Always remember that incentive you can gain from us: Recommend a friend who stays on our books and works for us over a period of 12 weeks and you will receive £30 bonus. Recommend a client who places a booking with us and you will receive £50 bonus. Over the last few weeks we have taken on some recommendations by yourselves so remember to fill the form out once next in the office.

I would like to say big congratulations to Martin and Susan on the birth of their baby boy last month, many sleepless nights to come!
A sad farewell goes out to Steve P who has left us as he has moved away, we wish you all the best in the future, stay in touch.
A big welcome to all the new faces that have joined us throughout February I hope you are all settled in and feel like part of the CPW team.

Throughout the year we hold several BFH courses which I am sure you are all aware of. The next course will be held on 5th April if any of you are interested in taking part and we have not already contacted you please pop in and see Karl about this. Also any of you who would be interested in gaining your CRB (Criminal Records Bureau Clearance) through us, this will enable you to work in places such as schools and nursing homes.

Finally I would like to finish off by wishing everybody a happy Easter. Let’s see how much my belly grows after all the chocolate I will be eating!! I hope you all have a good March and are all kept busy. Always remember anything you need just pop in and see us.

Take Care

Well we are already a quarter of the way through the year! I know they say as you get older the years fly by, but this is ridiculous. Easter is already just round the corner, with that in mind, people are going to be booking holidays from here on in which means we in the offices will be getting busier and busiers on , so please do keep your mobiles on as we will be calling with the hope of getting you all out working.

The office is getting busier as we said it would and a lot of you have already been out working for us over the past couple of weeks. Libby and myself would like to thank you for all your hard work, we are getting some great feedback about you from our clients. Our reputation is very important to us at CPW ing a new edition to the family we want to get off to the right start and you are making sure we are doing just that!

We are always on the look out for quality Catering Professionals, from Chefs to Kitchen Porters, so if you have any friends or old colleagues that are in need of work, send them our way, you can earn yourself £30 for the recommendation.
We also have a similar scheme if you recommend a client to CPW, if you know anyone with their own Catering business or again and have friends in the trade that may be in need of a quality agency again send them our way, if they make a booking with us you will earn yourself £50!!!!

Please remember all timesheets must be in by the EXTREME latest Monday morning. We like you to bring them in on Friday afternoon where possible, this way we can have a chat with you all, make sure you are all ok and that your work for the week went well. So please do pop in it’s is nice to see you all, we’ll even show you where the coffee/tea is kept!!!

A quick reminder on uniforms, please make sure when you go out on a booking you ensure you are smartly dressed, and in the correct uniforms, black trousers/skirt (tights if wearing a skirt), white shirts and your CPW coat.

Please remember the offices are closed on Good Friday(21st March) and Easter Monday (24th March), we re-open on Tuesday 25th March, with that in mind you must ensure all your timesheets for the week of 15-21st March are in by Thursday 20th March so we can ensure payroll is done in time for you all to be paid as normal.

Good luck to Manuel Viega who has found himself work in the Care sector which he has been trying to get into for the past few months. I hope it all goes well, don’t forget where we are if you need us. I would also like to welcome to the team, Annamarie, Chris, Laura and Neil who have all recently joined us. A special thank you to Steve Parker who has been working so hard for us for the past few weeks covering bookings in Gloucester, Swindon and Bristol, it is appreciated.

I hope all you mums out there had a lovely Mother day as well.
Speak to you all soon,

Lisa

Adrian ,Gauri, & Steve.

February Newsletter Swindon
Updated: 1st February 2008

Well I must start by saying, where has January gone to? It only seems like a few days ago I was checking up on bookings to ensure everyone had recovered from their new years celebrations.
And what a January it has been, I expected it to be a lot quieter than December so we could catch up on things but oh no, not the case as I am sure you are all aware of. It has been a very busy and successful month overall. The weekend functions have been quiet but this is due to the time of year but they will hopefully be picking up again soon so don’t worry! I take this opportunity to thank you all for your continuous hard work and support. Without you guys we would not be able to fill these bookings and without us lot in the office we would not be able to receive the bookings. So I guess what I am trying to say is a big THANK YOU to everyone involved with CPW and A1 as they have been a great support to us as well.

Now its time to mention the temps Christmas party on the 11th…. What a fantastic turnout we had especially considering the awful weather on the night. The bus almost didn’t make it into Bristol, Lisa got stuck on a hill in the snow and rain but it all turned out to be a great night in the end. It was a shame not everybody made it as you certainly did miss out some entertainment but nice to see a lot of familiar faces there. So lets take this opportunity and I am sure I talk on behalf of everybody in saying a big thank you to Tracey and Martin for putting it on and I know they also would like to remind you all that the party was their way of saying thank you for all the hard work that you put in over the year. So lets make this year a huge success and then we can all enjoy another one next year!

I guess you have all spoken to Karl now who has settled back into the office very well. He really is pushing the perm side of the business along nicely and also helping me out on the temp side of things. If any of you are interested in taking up a permanent position please do not hesitate to book some time aside with Karl as he will be more than happy to help. We currently have a lot of opportunities building up and lots coming up in the pipeline. To apply for a permanent position you will need to send a CV to us, any advice needed just ask. If any of you are thinking you want a change of scenery always remember we also have Bristol and Gloucester to help out with perm vacancies so Adrian or Lisa can help you with that.
You have probably all spoken to Claire as well who has been helping me out a lot with the running of the temps desk and dealing with all our admin so don’t be scared to speak to her as she is more than capable of taking calls and any queries you may have.
Lets not forget Sam on the A1 side of things as she is also in our offices, if any of you know of anyone looking for work in the commercial or industrial world then send them along to see Sam as she will be more than willing to help out.

I must say well done to you all who remember to bring in your timesheets on time as it has got better. But I will just remind the few that do forget and you know who you are; the deadline for timesheets is 9am Monday mornings. It is YOUR responsibility to get these in on time and ensure they are signed by the client. NO TIMESHEET…NO WAGES!!!

Tracey has received a lot of the ISO feedbacks forms from you and thanks you all for taking the time to fill these out as we like to know what your thoughts are about the company. 80% or so said you are made to feel like a valued member of CPW and Tracey will be calling those who had various queries or issues about CPW over time.

Always remember the little incentive we offer to you all; Recommend a friend who stays on our books and works for us over a period of 12 weeks and you will receive £30 bonus. Recommend a client who places a booking with us and you will receive £50 bonus.

We would all like to wish Tracey W well as she has left us now to go on Maternity leave; I have asked her to keep me updated on when the little one arrives.
Congratulations to Audrey and Francis who have left or due to leave as they have found permanent work either via us or independently so all the best for the future, always remember if things are not what they seem you are welcome back at any time.
Also a big welcome to all the new faces we have taken on board in the New Year, I am not going to mention all your names but you know who you are. I hope you are now feeling settled and happy to feel part of CPW.

Finally I would like to finish by saying lets hope we continue as we are and only get better. As we are providing the service we want to and let’s keep those smiles on everyone’s faces and continue to push forward into 2008. I wish you all the best over the next month and remember anything you need just pop in and see us.

Take care

Amy

Gloucester News - Feb 2008
Updated: 30th January 2008
Thankfully Gloucestershire got away with being flooded for the 2nd time in 6 months by the skin of it’s teeth! I would like to say a quick thank you to all those who agreed to be on standby incase we got the call to set up the mobile kitchens again, it was much appreciated. We are now safely out of the woods on that one.

Our Gloucester office has now been open for 2 months, and Libby and myself are busy beavering away to get the work in for you all. Remember to keep your mobiles on as when the work starts flowing we want to be ready to fly.

January is a notoriously quiet month in Catering as you are all aware, but rest assured this never lasts for long, we are fast apporaching Easter and I can assure you things will be busy that time of year, so have your uniforms at the ready!

In our January newsletter I forgot to say a big thank you to the lovely Anita Hobbs who filled Gloucesters first ever booking, Anita did a fantastic job and the client was really pleased with the service provided by the office and Anitas work, to the point where they rebook Anita whenever they have a need. This is what it is all about, you build a reputation for yourselves whilst your out there working and then the client wants you back where ever possible. Thanks Anita for yur hard work.

In Gloucester we have a few clients that want to use our services that require all temps to have special clearences completed. We are busy getting as many of you through these clearances as possible, this will open up the doors to work that we can not currently offer you. If we have not contacted you as yet or you have not had the chance to pop in, please make time sooner rather than later, it will take a matter of minutes, all we need is a signature from you. Please call us in the office on 01452 524770 to disscuss this further.

At CPW we run a couple of incentive schemes for the temps, this gives you all a chance to be part of Gloucesters success.

1. If you recommend a friend who joins us as a temporary worker and they complete 12 weeks employment with us, you will receive £30 inb you pay.

2. If you recommend a client to us and they register and place a booking with CPW you will receive £50 as a thank you.

Welcome to Steve Parker who has recently joined us and is busy working in one of our Bristol units at the moment. I hope you enjoy your time with us Steve.

Happy New Year - Bristol and Gloucester News January 2008
Updated: 10th January 2008
Well 2007 has been and gone, the build up to Christmas was as manic as ever and over in a flash!

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year with your friends and families and are now feeling refreshed and ready for work again.

Bristol had a fantastic year in 2007 seeing a lot of growth to the client base and the amount of work coming in that is not only down to the guys in the office but down to you all as well. It is you that represent CPW when you are out there working in these units and it is you that build our reputation leading to more and more satisfied clients. So a massive thank you for all your hard work not only over Christmas but 2007 as a whole.

As you are all aware it is our Christmas Party on Friday 11th January, there is a coach picking everyone up from Bristol and taking them to the Wroughton Club just on the outskirts of Swindon. The coach will take you back to Bristol later on in the evening.
The coach is booked to pick up from outside the Bristol office at 7pm and will pick up from the Wroughton Club between 12-12.30am.
If you would like to come you need to let Ade, Gauri or Steve know so they can put your name on the list so we are able to establish numbers, please make sure you let them know if you will need a seat on the coach or not again so we can make sure everyone is accounted for.
We always end up doing silly games Swindon V Bristol, so it would be great to see as many of you there as possible, I don’t like losing, not that I am competitive!! I will try not to break any bones two days before the party this year, fingers crossed!

Gloucester is going well, we are getting some strong responses from our advertising and are getting plenty of people registered looking for work. We are making a lot of calls out to register new clients and let people know we are here so hopefully in the next few weeks Gloucester should start to really lift off.

Remember if you know anyone living in Swindon, Gloucester or Bristol and they are looking for work don’t forget to tell them how fab we are, you’ll earn yourself £30 if they stay with us for 12 weeks or more.

Also there is incentives for recommending a client to us as well, when you’re out and about or have friends in the industry in need of a good agency, let them know where we are, if they book with us you get £50.

I seem to write this paragraph every month! TIMESHEETS TIMESHEETS TIMESHEETS!!!!!! It is the same old culprits not brining theirs in on time. Gauri really has no time to chase these for you anymore, it really does hold things up. So as of now if they are not in you will not get paid.

Congratulations to Adrian Macpherson Moore, Hugh Devey who have now found fulltime work through us. I also would like to say Good Luck to Andrew Little who may be seen on the small screen and West End stage entertaining audiences with his drumsticks!!! All the best guys but if you do need us you know where we are.

Finally a huge THANK YOU to everyone that worked on the Christmas functions over December, the feedback was fantastic, the client said she really could not have asked for it to go any better, everyone arrived smart, worked really hard and she said you were all diamonds especially Ade who went to help out at the last minute. This client is part of a group and they are proving to be a regular bookers and we are gaining a lot of work from them, this all goes back to you guys building our reputation, so Thanks again.

See you all on the 11th of January,

Lisa

Well I must start by wishing everybody a Happy New Year, the build up to Christmas was absolutely crazy and being my first one in the office was certainly a challenge! but I enjoyed every minute of it. I must say a big thank you to you all for your hard work and determination. I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year with your friends, families and loved ones and am now feeling refreshed and batteries recharged to get stuck back in to work again.

I would like to give a big welcome back to Karl Joyce who has rejoined us. He will be working alongside Tracey and myself and also dealing with permanent vacancies, so please do pop in and say hello if you remember him from before but if not pop in and introduce yourself as he will be another point of contact.
I would also like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Claire and Sam on A1 Wyvern as they have been a great support to me throughout the last couple of months. I am sure a lot of you have spoken to Claire; she is dynamite on the phones and regularly beats us all to it.

As you are all aware it is our Christmas party on Friday 11th January. It is being held at Wroughton Working Mens Social Club from 7pm, and will be a chance for us all to let our hair down and have a good time. It also brings us all together and will give you a chance to meet the guys from the Bristol and Gloucester teams.
It always ends up in silly games Swindon v Bristol, so it would be great to see as many of you there as possible and don’t forget your families are more than welcome. So let’s all look forward to seeing who will be on the dance floor first…..

Just so you are all aware our Gloucester office is going well, they are getting some strong responses from their advertising and are getting plenty of people registered looking for work. So if you have any leads in Gloucester or friends looking for work send them in to see Lisa or Libby and remember you could earn yourself some extra cash if they are successful and stay on board.

TIMESHEETS, TIMESHEETS, TIMESHEETS!!!! People are becoming very lazy lately!! We do not have time to chase up timesheets for you; it is your responsibility to get them in by the VERY latest 9am on Mondays. Always ensure they are signed by the client without a signature they are worthless. With immediate effect if they are not in on time, you will not be paid.

January is generally a quiet time, although this week has been busy so things are looking great for the start of the year! I would like to say, if you have any availability please do let us know as we are always on the look out, before taking a booking please check your availability, once we have confirmed with the client it makes us all look very inefficient if we need to continually change names.

Finally let’s make 2008 another successful year for CPW.

Thank you
Amy

CPW Hot Cats Newsletter Dec 2007.
Updated: 5th December 2007
I must start with a fond farewell to Rob and to wish him all the best in his career-change back into chefing. Rob has been with us for 3 years and I am sure you will agree that we will certainly miss having him in the Swindon office, although we will still see him as he is on our books as a temporary chef until he finds the perfect job for him! So you will all get to see Rob at the Christmas Party etc. Good Luck for the future Robbie love from everyone at CPW! There is a collection for Rob in the office and also a card to sign, this will be presented to him at the Christmas party, so if you have any coppers or a few paper notes that you would like to donate please see Amy.

Well what a year we have had change, change and even more change! For those of you that have been with us for a long time you will know that we have seen the coming of A1 this Year where Tracey has been working. A1 was located above CPW’s office and, as you may be aware is mainly Industrial and Commercial recruitment. A1 has gone from strength to strength and has seen a very good first year; Sam Reed runs the desk with the help of our lovely Claire Underdown, so if you have any relations or friends that are looking for work in these sectors please see Sam or Claire. Sam’s email address is samreed@a1wyvern.co.uk and Claire’s email is claire.underdown@a1wyvern.co.uk and the telephone number is 01793 526464. Claire also does the admin and reception duties for both CPW and A1, she sits on the front desk and Sam sits directly behind Claire, please introduce yourself to both Sam and Claire and if CPW have any droughts then I am sure you will be able to pick up work on the A1 side of things if you wanted to.

So as I said, we have had many changes, so what are these changes? Firstly businesses have merged onto the same floor, the offices have been refurbished to accommodate this and I hope you will agree when you do see them they look fantastic! We now have 2 separate interview rooms upstairs, one for CPW and another for A1, the front office is now for stores and chef whites etc. If anyone would like to see the changes please feel free to come in and have a look.

Secondly, Rob’s leaving means that for the foreseeable future Tracey is back on the main desk (and is loving it! Seeing lots of new faces and loads of the old ones) with the back up of Amy, although I will say I appear to be Amy’s admin girl!!! Amy is very capable and I am sure you will all agree Amy has taken the reigns very well (little control freak that she is, but lovely with it!) Amy will receive further training until comfortable enough to take the reigns and ride the waves at CPW.

Welcome back to Karl Joyce who will be back in January for anyone that knows him will know that he is great and will be able to hit the floor running so to speak. Eventually Amy will be running the main desk and Karl will be looking after the perm side of the business as well as the sales role, so if you are interested in a full-time job please see Karl or email him in January at karljoyce@cpwhotcats.co.uk
Again in the future Tracey will only be in Swindon for three days of the week, spending one day in Bristol and the other in Gloucester. You will be notified of the days that Tracey will be in each office so that if you wanted to talk to Tracey about anything then you would be able to do so. Apologises for not being in CPW’s offices for the last year because of setting up A1 and being very focussed on building the empire! Tracey will oversee A1 but is happy to say that Sam and Claire are both very capable of running this side of the business.

CPW’s third branch opened in Gloucester on Monday 3rd Dec and will initially be run by Lisa Cortez, who I am proud to say is now the Area Manager for CPW Hot Cats. Lisa has been with CPW for over two years now and has proven to be a great leader who is committed to CPW’s ethos and standards.
Welcome to Libby Pond who will be working alongside Lisa in Gloucester until Libby is fully trained and able to take over the reigns, if you are in Gloucester please pop in and say hello you will find the office at 107 Eastgate Street.

Lisa will oversee both the Bristol and Gloucester branches.
Adrian Gregory another star who CPW are proud to have is Lisa’s Deputy Manager and will ensure that Bristol stays on top to ensure that both Bristol and Gloucester go from strength to strength.
I will mention that this is the first year that Bristol will have done more sales than Swindon so well done Bristol a lot of hard work has gone into Bristol this year.
Bristol has seen the coming of Steve Goulding this year and Steve is flying high and loving the position. I am sure that anyone that knows Steve will know that of him, solid and great fun to be with. Welcome back to Gauri who has been in India for just over 4 weeks, I am sure that she will keep both Adrian and Steve in order; behind every great man they say, is a great woman and Gauri is Bristol’s great woman. Welcome back Gauri! Bristol also saw an office move this year from Stephens Street to St Augustine’s Parade; the new offices are fab, so all the offices have had a great amount of investment spent on them. I recently received a comment that you know that you are in CPW whether you are in Gloucester, Bristol or Swindon as they are all corporate with the colours and procedures etc.

So these are the main changes we have seen this year and I do believe that you will agree that the changes have been good ones. Many thanks to all of you that have helped in the change and making this all possible.

In the words of the famous Christmas carol “Christmas is coming, the geese are getting fat, please put a penny in the old man’s hat if you haven’t got a penny a ha’penny will do, if you haven’t got an ha’penny, then God Bless you!!!!” If you need to earn more pennies for the old man’s hat then give us a call with the extra hours that you may be available and we will see where we can give you extra hours, also if you know anyone that is looking for work you can earn an extra £30 for introducing them to CPW, so have a word with them! Ask us about our “Recommend a Friend Scheme” and find out how it works!

Our Christmas Party is one way of saying thank-you to you all for the hard work that you have done for CPW over the year. You must be good to work for CPW and therefore we want to make you feel special and say thank you for all of your hard work this year the Christmas party will be at The Wroughton Working Mens Club on Friday the 11th January 2008.
There will be a disco and a buffet and to say thank-you for all the hard work that you have put in there is a drink for each of you that come along. I hope to see as many of you there as possible, a coach will be put on from Bristol and there will be the normal competitions and loads of fun. Lets see if Tracey can stay sober!

That just leaves me to say keep your phones on to pick up the extra money from now until Christmas.
Tracey Martin

A new edition to the CPW Family - Gloucester !!!!
Updated: 4th December 2007
As you all know CPW never stands still for long! We have all been busy beavering away getting our third office ready for opening over the past month.

CPW Gloucester opened its doors on Monday 3rd December. The offices look fantastic! Libby has come to work alongside me in the office and we are busy building our reputation and business here as we have done in Swindon and Bristol. All the usual high standards you expect from your CPW office will be mirrored in Gloucester, Uniforms supplied and laundered, regular feedbacks from Client and Temps, 24/7 on call service, and the two friendly faces in the office.

We are getting a lot of response from our adverts and are keen on getting more potential candidates to join our team. If you know anyone who lives in the Gloucester area and is looking for work, send them our way.

As for Bristol the usual faces are still there(except for mine) Ade is heading up the office, with Steve and Gauri alongside him. Remember to pop in and say hi to them, especially Gauri, as after having a 6 week holiday she may have forgotton some of you!!!

I am still around if you need anything but will be based in Gloucester for the next few months and will then take on more of an area role between the offices but I will stay in touch with you, if any of you get a day off from Ade and want to pop in and see our new office we are on 107 Eastgate Street, Gloucester GL1 1PY

This just leaves me to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us and to remind you you only have 21 shopping days to go!

Speak to you soon,

Lisa

Bristol News November 2007
Updated: 13th November 2007
So much going on I am not sure where to start…. Firstly welcome to Steve Goulding and Libby Pond who have joined us in the office recently, a lot of you will have already spoken to Steve or met him but if you haven’t pop in and say hello, the same goes for Libby. Both of them are settling in great and are already part of the team.

As you know Gauri is being missed a great deal as she has gone to India to see her family and will not be back in to work until the beginning of December, all her duties are being completed by those of us left in the office. I am doing Payroll on a Monday morning and have noticed some of you have become very slack in getting your timesheets in. I can not emphasise enough how busy Mondays are already without having to chase timesheets that are missing, it is YOUR responsibility, as of next week if your timesheet is missing you will NOT be paid. Please don’t be the one to miss out and make sure you get them in by Monday am at the latest.

We would all like to say a massive THANK YOU to all the guys who covered the functions at Hbos Cannons Way a couple of weeks ago. The feedback was fantastic and the client was over the moon. This was a big day for the client as they had only just taken over and were showing their facilities off to their customers. The result of such good feedback is that we are supplying to all Hbos sites in the area including the brand new Harbourside site. So Thank You for all your hard work, keep it up.

Christmas is only 8 weeks away!!!!!! (Oh dear) It is that time again when the bookings are going to go mad, we are already seeing things pick up and quite quickly too. Make sure you are keeping us up to date with all your availability, when you want work, when you don’t. We will need all hands on deck over the coming 8 weeks.
Also please remember if you accept a booking we do expect you to honour it and not let us down at the last minute unless it is due to sickness obviously. We are having a few problems with being let down and as I said above it is getting really busy at the moment so when you ask us to cover you off it is not always possible, which as I am sure you will appreciate is not the reputation we want.

One more reminder about all the Randstad sites, if you are going to work in any of the Bristol City Council run nursing homes please remember to sign in and out on their generic timesheets, stating clearly your name, which agency you are from and the position you have worked.

Lastly Congratulations to Steve Hale, Felipe Lescano, Andrew Murray and Kate Klocek who have all secured full time work, even though we have not lost you completely as you are all working weekends for us you are being missed by the clients and us. Good luck in your new jobs.

Speak to you all soon

Bristol News September
Updated: 11th September 2007
Just a quick update on some of the goings on this past month. We are getting really busy here in Bristol and I know I keep saying that but it is getting busier and busier as the months go by, which us great news for all of us, however I would ask you keep us as up to date with you’re your availability as you can. It is extremely frustrating when we are so busy when we think you are free and then find out things have changed so please keep us posted. Poor Adrian is getting greyer by the day!

A lot of you will have noticed the change in procedures for timesheets with all Nursing Homes, I know you are all well in the habit of getting the CPW timesheets signed but please remember if you are in a Council run nursing home you need to sign in and out, clearly stating your name and agency on the MASTER Randstad timesheet in the office of the nursing home. If you fail to do this Randstad will not pay you or us. We are not able to get these hours authorised over the phone so do not rely on us to sort it out, no signing no pay until you go back there again and can get the form filled out. There have been several times when this has happened and we got a bit of a ticking off from Randstad! So you MUST remember.

Congratulations to Mike Currie, Alicja Maciejak, Lee Bevan and Marek Ademiec who have all found full time positions. Good luck but if you do need us you know where we are.
I also would like to say Good Luck to both Chablis May and Katerina Tvrdikova who are both back off to University, you’ll be missed!

There have been several new clients that have come on board over the past 2 months and the feedback I have had from them has been great, again a job well done! We are constantly trying to bring in new clients to keep you all busy with work, this is definitely working as you are all crying for time off. Remember if you hear of anyone in need of an agency and you pass the information us and this then leads to a booking you will be given a £50 cash incentive. The same goes if you have a friend looking for work and they come in, register and stay with us for a period of 12 weeks you will receive £30 for your valued efforts!

Thank you to all of you for all your hard work once again, it is appreciated and I’m sure I’ll see you all soon in the office,

Speak to you all soon

Bristol Newsletter - August 07
Updated: 31st July 2007
Finally a bit of Sunshine, hopefully the rain has passed at last! With the weather in mind a massive thank you to all of you who pitched in at the eleventh hour to help with setting up the mobile kitchens in Gloucester and Cheltenham to help support the work going on there for those affected by the recent floods. Your willingness to go the extra mile has been really appreciated and you have done a fantastic job.

There have been several new clients that have come on board over the past 2 months and the feedback I have had from them has been great, again a job well done! We are constantly trying to bring in new clients to keep you all busy with work, this is definitely working as you are all crying for time off, I don’t blame you, it has been busy as of late. Remember if you hear of anyone in need of an agency and you pass the information us and this then leads to a booking you will be given a £50 cash incentive.

As some of you will be aware Randstad have recently taken control over the bookings for all Bristol City Council Nursing homes, this means the homes directly put the bookings to Randstad and they will then feed them through to us. When you are working in any of these units you will not need to get one of our CPW timesheets signed, there will be one generic timesheet in each unit for all agencies to use. This will then be forwarded to us on a Monday for Payroll so don’t worry it will all work in the same way it just means less paperwork for the homes. When using these generic timesheets make sure you write which agency you are from in the appropriate box especially seeing as all the other agencies will be using the same sheet!

Just a reminder on our out of hours service, this is available for emergencies only, if you are running late, are lost or can not fulfil the next days bookings we would expect you to call, If you are enquiring about something that really could wait until the following morning when we are back in the office please respect our time with our families at home. It is not that we are not interested it is just of late we have been experiencing a lot of calls or unnecessary messages. Remember we are not in the office after 5pm of a weekday and are closed at the weekend.

Please ensure your timesheets are all in by Monday morning at the latest, we are experiencing a few problems with this of late, poor Gauri ends up chasing outstanding timesheets on a Monday morning which is preventing her from getting on with finding more work for you guys. On top of that I end up with Aunty Joy in accounts chasing me for the payroll so it holds everything up.

Once again thank you very much for all your hard work over the past few months, it is getting busier as I am sure you will all agree and your efforts are genuinely appreciated.

Speak to you all soon

Swindon’s Newsletter For July
Updated: 25th July 2007

Hi Guys we are now well into the summer BUT WHERE IS THE SUN unbelievable amount of rain many people in Swindon were affected on THAT Friday and over the weekend, hope not too many of you had your property or cars ruined.
A great big thankyou to all of you that were booked to work on that weekend and still braved the elements and the public transport system. I was on call and had no calls of people letting me down this was a real show of loyalty from you and we really appreciate it.
All change in the CPW office, Daryl has now left us and is working in Purton for A1 Wyvern he was only covering in the office as a temporary measure whilst he is waiting to go travelling in Australia at the end of the year, I know Daryl has built a good relationship with many of you and he will be really missed, we have a card and collection box in the office so please come in and sign it.
WE HAVE 2 new people in the office now Amy Donnelly and Chris Close. Amy most of you will already have met or spoken to by now as she has been with us a few weeks and Chris Close who was one of our Chefs with a lot of Management experience who started on Tuesday 24th July.
Please come in and introduce yourselves and make them feel welcome.
Many of you have been asking after Laura as well she is still with us and she is working upstairs with Tracey helping her with A1 Wyvern.
We are constantly ringing out trying to source new business and clients to ensure you all have work and are bringing on new clients all the time. Please if you are coming into the office during the week keep your visit down to a minimum as this stops us from working and can be quiet a distraction when we are in the process of making calls out. Its not that we don’t want to spend the time with you but we want to make sure that everyone has work.
We always free up Friday afternoons to spend with you so when you come in with your timesheets we can spend some quality time with you then.
Those of you that have already been on Holiday I hope you had a great time and that you have returned fresh and Re – Vitalised those still waiting I hope you have a great time and the weather is kind.
We are still looking for leads for both CPW and A1 Wyvern and remember the cash incentive if this leads to a booking.
Thanks again for all your hard work and dedication

Rob.

National Temp Week 2007
Updated: 1st May 2007
It’s that time of year again, are you ready to dust down those posh frocks and smart suits to join us for our annual party celebrating National Temporary Workers Week?

Every week 1.2 million temporary workers are keeping businesses rolling across the UK, if it wasn’t for you guys there would be an astronomical short fall of staff in so many industries which is why so many Recruitment Agencies celebrate this week every year.

CPW has now existed for nearly eight years and is going from strength to strength and it is because of you! Some of you have been with us from the very beginning others have joined more recently, however so many of you are committed and dedicated to CPW and are always willing to go that extra mile for us, we do recognise your efforts and very much appreciate it.

CPW’s mission statement is “to exceed our customer and workers expectations every time” hopefully we in the offices exceed your expectations and we know from our client feedbacks you guys do the same when you are at work.

We will be having a knees up in the offices in CPW, there will be beer, wine and food a plenty, the date is to be confirmed, so watch this space!!!

We are giving awards for the following categories:

Long Service Award
Best New Comer
Gone the extra mile
Chef of the Year
Catering Assistant of the Year
Kitchen Porter of the Year
Bar/Waiter of the Year
Cleaner of the Year

The winners of each category will receive a bottle of bubbly and of course the Strawberry’s to go with it.

Thank you to all of you again, to us you are essential!

Love all at CPW Swindon and Bristol

Bristol News April 07
Updated: 23rd April 2007
Hope you all had a fantastic Easter, the weather was fantastic, so I hope you all made the most of it. I certainly did!

We have all been working hard in the office to bring in new business and as some of you will be aware we a bringing on quite a few new clients, we have had a lot of compliments back from these new clients so I would like to say thanks to all you who have represented us so well. We do appreciate it. With all the new work we are bringing on we are certainly looking for new people to join the team, so remember if you have any friends that are fellow Chefs or Catering Assistants tell them to come in and see either myself, Adrian or Gauri, you could earn £30.00 for your effort!

Catering Assistants need to have at least 1 years experience and Chefs will need about 5-8 years and need to be qualified.

Congratulations to Siphiwie Komane, Phil Mallender, Catherine Herve-Petts, Ivona Trendlova and Martin Collins who have all recently found full time work, we will definitely miss them.

Welcome to Chablis, Dexter, Glenard, Hugh, Ilona, Lamin and Michael Halas who have all recently joined us and are doing great.

Work is notoriously quiet during the Easter period, as I know some of you have experienced, but I can assure you, week on week things are getting busier and before you know it we’ll be asking you to work all the hours God sends again. With that in mind please remember to keep your phones turned on, as you don’t want to miss that call! Keep us informed of any changes in availability, that way we are not bothering with calls when you are trying to have a lay in.

We have a Basic Food Hygiene Course running on the 28th April, those of you that need to refresh your knowledge will have received letters by now asking you to attend, this is a legal requirement within Catering, especially for Chefs. If you are unable to attend please call Gauri and let her know as soon as possible and we will re-schedule you for the next course. Those of you that are able to attend, the course will be held here in the office on the 28th April, start time to be confirmed, but it is usually 9.30am and the course will only last for 3 hours. Good luck to you if you are attending, but don’t worry it’s all common sense, I promise.

Speak you all soon,

Lisa
Branch Manager

Spring is definitely upon us and it is great to see all the flowers out the Sun shining and the lighter mornings and evenings really makes you feel a lot fresher and brighter.
Work is going to be a lot busier during the next few months as a lot of our clients staff will be taking there summer holidays and they will be relying on us for there cover so please keep us bang up to date with your availability. When you know your own holiday dates please let us know so we have plenty time to cover for you especially if you are on ongoing bookings. A1 Wyvern our sister company up stairs is going from Strength to strength with our Illustrious leader Tracey Martin at the forefront pushing it forward, with new employees Nicky Mander and Alison Bailey running the temps and perms desks.
They cover Warehouse and Industrial so any leads you may have don’t forget the recommend a friend and recommend a Client scheme.
Things are going really well with our Bristol Branch as well so on the whole all good stuff.
A gentle reminder to keep us informed of any lateness etc if you think you are going to be late for any bookings please just give us a quick call to let us know so we can inform the client rather than them telling us you haven’t turned up.
We are still always looking for new leads and we are constantly ringing around to try and find new units and bookings for you guys so if you do have any leads on new clients or friends that you feel will be good for CPW please get them to come in and see us.
Remember my door is always open

National Temporary Workers Week

National Temporary Workers Week
5-9th June 2006
The Oscars are here for the temporary work force of the UK! So put on your Ball Gown/Tiara or Tux and join in our celebrations at CPW Friday 9th June after school please!
REC kicks off our biggest annual campaign. National Temporary Workers Week is in its sixth year and exists to celebrate temporary and contract workers by highlighting their massive contribution to the UK economy. Recruitment agencies are one of Britain’s largest employers, given support to every industry; we have chose to stick at being catering recruitment specialist and always will do!
Our reputation has been built on solid foundations through consistently employing good quality personnel who are reliable, honest, and flexible and “who do it as it says on the tin” we have people that have worked for since we began in 1999.
We know that you are great believe me and we are proud of you, (mind you we let you know if you get wrong and we do!)
We care about you to the extent that we want you to feel a valuable member of CPW and for you to understand that our success lays heavily in your hands. We would not be here if it were not for you great lovely people, Thank you.
I do feel that the office staff deserve credit as well because they are the ones who choose to employ you!
They work long and hard ensuring you guys and dolls are happy with what you are doing, I believe they listen to you and have a genuine friendship with you.
When I opened CPW I had a vision that we would be the very best employers that you could wish to work for, in fact I wanted it to be as good has working for a top hotel. Where everyone felt a part of something really good, I believe I have my vision and it’s my reality. Thank you everyone for making my dream come true.
We have chosen to give awards to the following categories:
1. Long Service Award
This award goes to the temps who have been steadfast to CPW for a very long time, some from the opening back in 1999, these temps have proven year after year to be flexible, extremely loyal, and hard working, requested time and time again by our clients and that’s a compliment in its self! They are the Ambassadors of CPW who have contributed hugely to the success to CPW.
We have also chosen to give individual awards for the categories of staff we employ, these may have worked for CPW for a shorter period of time but certainly deserve recognition for their hard labour and again are great ambassadors for CPW.
A bottle of Lanson Champagne for all of our exceptional temps
Wine and beer and nibbles for all our temps Friday.
Happy National Temporary workers week.

June 2005
Updated: 23rd June 2005
Celebrations are due to all the office staff as we have just passed our ISO 9000 inspection with flying colours. (ISO stands for International Standards Organisation.)

By passing this means that we have proven to the ISO verifier that we have quality procedures in place to ensure consistency and professionalism throughout CPW. Temps and Clients help us gain this also by giving back feedback so, thank you to all that fill them in. These forms allow CPW to measure the way we do things. Thank you!

We are working with Swindon College and have been able to gain 6 places for the NVQ level 2 in Hospitality Quick Services. I already have the names for this course and also for one NVQ assessor, if any of you would be interested in the courses please do give me a call and I will arrange this for you.

Work is coming in thick and fast. New business is being gained so, if you know anyone that as the experience that we expect please do put them forward and we will reward you with £30.00. Also, if you would like any extra work please tell Rob, Karl or Liam in Swindon and Dan or Adrian in Bristol.

Ian Foster is settling in nicely as is Lisa Cortez so do call in and introduce yourself to them. Ian will be working in Bristol as of Friday 24th June.

If you are looking for Perm work please do contact Lisa and have a chat. Let Lisa know exactly what it is you are looking for and I am sure she will do her best to help find you the job of your dreams!

When I worked up at RAF Wroughton with Tracey we were working over Christmas I was working Christmas day and came in and cooked the Turkey which Tracey had kindly boned stuffed and rolled for me I was in the middle of serving it up to the officers when one of the officers came in for the Turkey she was taking round to her friends house for Christmas un known to me Tracey had done this Turkey for the officer and not for the other officers so I had to give her the scraggy ends I had left. She left in tears as she was going to be embarrassed in front of her friends I was fuming and didn’t speak to Tracey for about a week she also called on Christmas day to wish me a happy Christmas I did not return the seasons greetings. However I have dined out many times on that story and still see the funny side NOW after 12 years. She is still a Nightmare as you probably all know and still stitches me up regularly
